Chereads / Chaos Blade / Chapter 11 - Berserk

Chapter 11 - Berserk

The ground began to tremor from the sheer power of the chaos blade. With the combined power of that stone Goliath almost seemed like he was impossible to stop.

Mio was in a state that made her feel like she wasn't herself. She had no power over her body and felt that she was too weak to gain control. She felt like she was floating. The lightheadedness you get when you are drifting in a lazy river, but it wasn't like that, it was more of her falling. The short grace period of a free fall in which time stops right before you hit the ground.

She felt angry, frustrated and just plain weak. She did not want this. She could do nothing about this. It might have been fate that led her to this exact moment. What she learned from her previous encounters is that the strong ruled over the weak. Power is everything. With that power you are able to take what you want. A cycle that one cannot break.

'I'm not the one fighting am I?... I'm watching this spirit fight for me...

It's fine... as long as it wins, it doesn't matter to me.

....he is pretty strong... and really loud..'

Her body was submerged in darkness, entangled by the power of the chaos blade. The pain she felt was mind numbing but, she could not react to it.

Goliath swung the axe at Mio. He flailed the axe around trying to hit her but, to no effect. She was just too fast. He noticed that her strength did not dip after he held the blade but it seemed that the power did not come from the blade itself.

Or so he thought.

Goliath got the axe stuck in the ground. After missing Mio, she noticed that the blade was not in his hand and for a split second he left her eyes off of him and he came in with a nasty left hook. She was taken aback, but it was not enough for her to get knocked out. She was swaying trying to get her footing on the ground.

He came again with full force. He put his hands together and pummeled her on the head, while holding both his palms together. Mio did not falter but, she coughed up blood and her feet sank further into the floor. Goliath let out a big roar and picked up the axe that was stuck in the ground.

Mio's body was still. The ever looming closeness of death inched towards her. Goliath began to swing the axe at Mio.

He wound up his arm to lop off Mio's head in one motion.

He let out another roar.

"DIEEee"

In that moment there was silence. The only sound was the axe cutting through the air. Then for a brief moment there was a loud bang.

The sound caused Goliath to miss Mio by a narrow margin. The axe made a loud thump and was stuck in the floor once again.

He turned around. He was searching for the source of the sound. Then she saw that girl that brought Mio to him. She managed to take Gerald's gun from his dismembered body. She looked tired as she used all of her strength for this exact moment.

"Gotcha.... Bitch..."

Goliath's eyes were shocked. The markings on his face and arm started to glow once more and he let out another roar. He turned around for a brief second and began charging at the girl.

That was his mistake.

Mio's shell of a body saw the chance to break free from the floor. She pulled the axe from the floor and the blade returned to normal size.

Goliath was blindly charging towards her, roaring at the defenseless girl. In an instant Mio thrusted the blade into his back and he fell face forward. The markings on his face began to disappear and his killing intent dissipated.

Mio removed the blade from his back. She held the blade with both hands to initiate a killing blow but suddenly a voice cried out.

"Waitt!!!"

Mio was looking around to find the source of the sound. There she sensed another person in the room. The hooded man walked towards Goliath's injured body. He wore the same clothes as Goliath. The hooded man took off his hood to reveal a young man with glasses and had an handsome face.

He looked to see Goliath on the floor with a big stab wound bleeding. The chaos blade emanating a dark aura and the girl with fiery red eyes and black markings on her face. While all around he could see multiple bodies laid around him.

"It seems that I have walked into the belly of the beast."

He stretched his hands to cover Goliath.

"I cannot let you harm my associate any further."

Mio sensed that he was far more dangerous than Goliath. She immediately charged at him with a piercing scream.

"Noisy"

Mio held the chaos blade with both hands hoping to pierce him on impact, but she underestimated his strength. He grabbed the blade with both hands and threw Mio across the room. She hit the side of the wall pretty hard and she was slow to get up.

The man went through his robes to reveal a small bag. He threw the bag a Goliath. The shine and color of what appears to be small rocks/stones were placed in Goliath's hands.

"Here, take it. Master needs that blade from you not me. Finish the job or it's over for you."

A strange voice came from Mio.

"Where did you get those stones?"

With intrigue. The man with glasses adjusted his glasses on his face with the palm of his hand.

"Oh. The spirit of the sword speaks? Interesting."

He flashed stepped toward Mio and placed his hand gently on her chin.

"So pretty... like a star in the night sky. You'll find out soon enough. Till we meet again..."

Before he faded into thin air.

"...if you can live that long."

Goliath grabbed the bag of stones and started to swallow each of the tiny speckled rocks.

His body turned red. He let out a louder scream then before, similar to the one in the beginning of the fight.

His body transformed into a beast of monstrous proportions, twice the size of what he was originally. His arms had the width of Mio's waist and he grew claws that could rip a human in half. His eyes were a dark red, his pupils dilated from the immense power of the stones.

With his monstrous arms he banged his chest and began to roar. Goliath's roar gave out a huge shockwave that rumbled the bank and pushed Mio ever so slightly.

The spirit of the blade sensed the large amount of demonic power. The power of stones were weakening the spirit's energy. Mio's blade grew smaller into a small knife and the spirit released its grasp from her consciousness.

As she fell on her knees Mio realized the monster that she was facing.

"Ah shit, here we go again..."

Mio still had power but was not able to control it just yet. She was still in pain from the previous fights with Goliath. She picked up the small blade and tried to run away from him.

I have to buy some time somehow. I can't beat him without the spirit.

Goliath was ripping pieces of the floor and throwing it at Mio. He was drawing closer and closer to her position. She was struggling to find a way to beat this monstrosity. Then she remembered that the blade can transform.

'How the fuck am I supposed to do that??..'

Goliath got closer and closer. Mio could hear Goliath's breath. She ran to another pillar and was caught out by one of Goliath's injured henchmen.

"Stupid Idiot.."

She pushed him toward Golaith and was immediately crushed.

"What the fuck??"

As soon as she looked away. Goliath was towering over Mio. Goliath then picked up a chunk of floor he ripped from the ground to crush her with it.

Goliath was breathing heavily. He was clenching the chunk of floor he held above his head.

"SMa$h... $m@Sh..."

Mio's eyes could see the end. She could sense the ever growing killing intent inside Goliath. She had no way to defend herself, all she had was this puny dagger in her hand that would not transform.

Goliath held the chunk of floor so that sharp edge would point directly at Mio.

She held up the small dagger to her face to shield herself. Her hands were trembling, struggling to hold it in her hand.

Fuck, Fuck, fuck...I'm going to die, I'm going to die...

With all his force he smashed the piece of floor onto to Mio.

All you could see was the shocked faces of the bystanders that were still alive and Goliath's henchmen that were still limping.

There was nothing but a metal clamor.

A clashing of a sharp blade.
