Chapter 1 - Slaughter

4 o'clock (4:00 p.m.) , United Nations headquarters, New York

15 minutes before the incident

I loaded my Barrett M95 with a custom made 5 round magazine, each bullet fitted with 65 percent aluminium. I lied down ready for firing next to the great prestigious UN headquarters. On the roof of a 30 story residential building, I had seven other trainees accompany me. Two from the military and 5 trained unknown assassins like me. Reaching the top of the building was easy but firing beyond a 1200 metre range would prove to be difficult as I glanced through the scope.

Our targeted sight was clear. We had to aim for the conference room visible at our angle. Twelve targets and we each had 5 bullets. With 45 consecutive shots we had to fire our rifles and aim specifically at a set of 12 targets out of 18. Based on the information we obtained from the P.O.S.A. (The Patriotic Order of Sons of America), our targets were set on passing a bill for the realignment of 40 percent of the army to the base in Iraq to start a cold war and an aggression pact. Meanwhile, these targets were bribed by Syria to bring an all out war against America.

I tilted my gun lower towards the 23rd floor of the headquarters where the conference was to be held. I approximated the distance to be 900 metres which was still a difficult shot. A failed execution would involve the media and we would all be labelled as terrorists. Each shot taken could change the course of our lives.

15 minutes had passed and the targets began to enter. We opened the locks to our firearms. All prepared to fire but one. I noticed a member of the military shivering. I gave the signal to halt the program and told that member to leave the premises and enter the said blind spot behind the building.

3 minutes had gone by. We had 3 hours to pick our best shots. We were barely able to view the faces of the men sitting. Some were faced opposite to our view. We then saw 5 men leave. These men were aware of the assassination and had joined forces with the P.O.S.A. The only way this bill would be passed would be through the majority. Thus the majority who agreed to the passing of the bill had to be eliminated. The movement of the 5 men away from the conference room was the signal to fire. I took a deep breath and pointed at a target. I signalled the fellow trainees to fire.

The first shot was that of the other military trainee. The shot missed. The other shots that followed rained down consecutively and lead to the death of 7 men. Our rifles ran out of bullets and we began reloading. The 5 men left alive began running away from the room. One man was injured as a bullet had pierced his calf. On the second round of bullets raining down, we were only able to kill another man. The mission had failed. This meant involving the military who were unaware of this operation. The military guards were deployed to protect the men we failed to kill. The only way the operation could succeed was by the deaths of our fellow military. This would declare to the world that we were rogue assassins if word got out but if we failed to execute these 5 men of the UN, it would mean the end of our carriers.

For 25 minutes, we waited for the deployment of the military officers to lower our death count possibility. I was sure that the members of the UN were waiting for their arrival as well.

I ordered the 5 assassins to stay on the roof as snipers. I then ordered the man of the military to accompany me with the required items. We equipped ourselves with two knives, a Glock G43 pistol, a black face mask and walked down towards the blind spot where I had positioned the other military man. As we were progressing towards the blind spot I asked, " What's your code name?"

He replied, "My code name's Ashley. What's yours?"

I stated, "You can call me Jack." And we moved forward.

As we reached the spot, I asked the other military man of his code name and he complied saying, "Jerm... I mean Charlie sir!" I knew from the start that this man would bring trouble. Charlie had a AMT AutoMag equipped though I couldn't tell which version. We travelled from the first blind spot to the second near the entrance of the UN headquarters where three Non-Commissioned Officer Ranks were standing guard. I ordered the snipers to halt to prevent them for firing. I was waiting for the first target to walk through. To our advantage two men of the UN appeared together in the protection of the three officers. I was knelling behind the wall of a factory which was our blind spot due to the factory's work hours being between 1200 and 1500 hours. I ordered the two men beside me to fire on sight and take cover once 6 shots of our guns were fired. The three opposing military men each had a M4 Carbine. We fired our shots and took cover. We were able to kill 2 men of the military and injure one man of the UN. As I predicted, they took cover behind the fountain and the one remaining commissioned officer started firing. I signalled the snipers above to start firing. Even though they were safe from the position they were currently in, from above they had no protection. They died on the spot.

We had killed 10 men and 2 were left alive. I commanded Charlie to lead the way inside the headquarters. This time we were opting for a full frontal attack.
