It was all too late, the rumbling from above intensified as the soil and rocks of the tunnel began to loosen. The nearest reinforcement beams were too far away from the point that they had been digging.
Vyrena immediately leaped forward, closing the distance in a matter of seconds. She increased the size of her wolf form until her body covered everyone. Her back was against the wall and so was the top of her head.
Sorren quickly gathered the others to hide under the shadow Vyrena had cast. As the rumbling continued everyone covered their heads with their hands, fearful of what could happen next. Vyrena could feel the rocks and soil weighing down on her back.
She straightened her limbs and patted the area down with her back. She looked down, searching for the wooden beams that had been prepared to reinforce the tunnel.
"Sorren, bring the wooden beams to me," she called out.
