Chapter 32 - Master Tower

"Will I be fighting in this big stage?" Gin asked. He doesn't want his face to be seen by so many peoples.

"Dream on, Kid! This stage is only for special occasions such as the battle between Seal Destruction masters or if someone challenges a person who's one realm higher than them."

"For example, Physique Enrichment fighter battling Seal opening fighter. Till now, no one has ever won a battle transcending their stage!" Juvan responded.

"Come, let's go and register your name. Oh, I almost forgot. Before registering, you can choose a mask to cover your face, if you don't want others to know about your identity."

"It's not mandatory, you can also battle without any disguise. From my experience, I would recommend concealing your face." Juvan stated.

"What do you think?" Juvan asked.

"I better fight with a mask." Gin said in relief.

"Good! Let's go and choose that first." Juvan said and led Gin and Baste towards a particular direction.

"In fact, we have three combat arenas in our Battleborn Arena. Did you see the towers on either side of the central building?"

"That two towers have their own name – Master Tower and Grandmaster Tower. Each tower has its own battle Arena."

"Master Tower is for battles happening below Seal Opening Stage fighters while Grandmaster tower is for Seal opening stage practitioners." Juvan introduced the Battleborn arena.

"Since you are in the Physique Enrichment stage, you will be fighting in Master Arena," Juvan said to Gin.

"Before joining in the arena battle, why don't we go and watch a battle? It will give you a clear idea about this place, you may even change your decision." Juvan said.

"Sure, we would love to watch the battle." Baste replied before Gin, giving no room for rejection.

Clearly, both Juvan and Baste doesn't want Gin to participate in the arena battle.

Soon, the three of them reached an alley where many shops resided. Surprisingly, the alley was lively and bustling with peoples.

Gin toured the place along with Baste and Juvan. He also brought a mask for himself on the way -- a dark blue mask with red prints on its left side.

After that, Juvan led Gin and Baste towards Master tower. Like the center tower, the master tower had a large battle arena at the building's heart.

But, unlike the central tower, the arena here is divided into three battle stages and was surrounded by numerous onlookers who were all either seated or standing.

Gin heard loud cheers, applause, often some curses and yells from spectators.

Under Juvan's guide, Gin and Baste reached the spectator stand. "Battle takes place for an entire day here, with half an hour gap in between every battle."

Gin also noticed all three battle stages were empty, right now.

"You can view the details of the next battle on the screen there like their names, number of victories and losses, and much more," Juvan said and pointed at the large screen hovering above the stage.

Gin looked at the screen which is currently displaying the details of the next battle that's going to commence in 5 minutes.

"Oh, interesting! The next battle is between two fighters who are both in the top 100 of the Master board." Juvan exclaimed.

"Master board?" Gin asked, curious.

"Yes, the master board is the fighters ranking in Master tower. Here, one's ranking is calculated based on the number of victories and defeat." Juvan explained.

"You are fortunate to witness this battle! Observe carefully, it will help you in the future."

Gin once again looked at the screen to see the details of the two fighters - Pyro vs Dust.

Pyro has won 46 battles and suffered 14 losses while Dust has won 44 battles and suffered 12 losses; Both of them have uncovered 9 hidden seals in their body.

Pyro was ranked 80 while Dust was ranked 95.

Just as Gin finished looking at the details, a loud cheer came from the surrounding crowd.

'Pyro!!' 'Pyro!!' Some were cheering Pyro's name.

'Dust!!' 'Dust!!' Some were shouting Dust's name.

Gin saw two peoples entering the 'battle stage 1' from two sides. Both of them had no disguise or mask and looked around twenty years in age.

Pyro and Dust stood face to face with intense fighting spirit around them. After some speech from the referee, the battle started.

Pyro and Dust spoke something, but others weren't able to hear it due to loud noise.

Who knows what Dust said, but Pyro looked enraged and raced towards Dust.

Pyro's hand suddenly released a blue light flash and soon, his whole hand is covered by arcs of lightning.

A punch fueled with arcs of lightning reached Dust's chest, but Dust easily caught Pyro's punch with his hand while a smirk is evident on his face.

As soon as Dust caught his punch, Pyro didn't panic and flung a kick to his opponent's face.

Dust released Pyro's hand to dodge the attack. Pyro also backed away a little and the anger in his face also calmed down.

'Crush him, Dust!'

'Pyro, what are you doing? Punch him down!'

All sorts of cheers and curses rang in the air, making the whole arena lively.

Within the next ten seconds, both of them clashed for more than ten bouts while Dust dealt two heavy blows and defended perfectly.

From their clash it's evident Dust has an upper hand but the discussion from the crowd states otherwise.

From Gin's point, he would say Dust would win. He had strange and unpredictable footwork, while his attacks and defense were also perfect.

"Who do you think has the highest chance of victory?" Juvan asked Gin.

"Dust," Gin replied, giving a thought.

"Oh, if you think Dust will win just because of a slight advantage he has, then you are wrong."

"Dust's techniques focus on defense, and his spirit seal affinity is metal which is a perfect counter for Pyro's skill but Pyro has yet to shown his true strength," Juvan said.

Just as Juvan said, some change happened in the battle; Pyro counter-attacked with a mysterious skill.

The lightning arcs in his disappeared but Dust failed to block Pyro's punch which aimed at his chest.

Pyro's attack was fast, at least three times faster than his previous punches and it was also heavy and packed with strength.

Just one blow! Dust held his chest in pain and coughed out some blood. He looked at Pyro in anger and surprise.

Only he knows what he experienced in the last attack and that's why he was surprised. He felt some kind of strange force traveling past his defensive skill and damaging his inner organs.

Unlike others, Gin knows what happened thanks to his exceptional soul power.

When Pyro withdrew his lightning arcs, it didn't disappear but surprisingly blended into his flesh, raising his speed and strength.

If Dust blocked the attack with his hand, he could have prevented the heavy injury but he blindly believed in his defense and suffered.

Dust admitted defeat with reluctance and dragged himself out of the stage.

While Pyro got loud applause from the spectators and he too withdrew from the stage after the referee announced his victory.

"You may think the battle has ended in a short time but in this short period if you are not careful you may even lose your life."

"Isn't killing someone forbidden here?" Gin asked.

"Yes, but you can't prevent an accident, right? Anything can happen in a battle stage." Juvan said.

"What's the punishment for killing someone, here?" Gin asked.

"If you kill your opponent, your next matches will be deathmatch — meaning — your opponent has the privilege to kill you if you lose."

"If you kill your opponent for the second time, then you have to battle and win an opponent one stage higher than you. I have been here for many years, no one has ever won transcending battles." Juvan explained.

"So, what do you think?" Juvan asked.

"I want to participate." Gin firmly said.

Hearing his answer, both Juvan and Baste shook their heads.

"As you wish, come with me," Juvan said and led Gin to register.

"Is there any other way to leave the arena without winning 50 matches?" Gin asked.

"No, there's no other way. Even if you come from a powerful background, the rules are the same because the 'Battleborns arena' has such a formidable backer that no one wants to mess with." Juvan said.

"Then what happens to peoples who can't win, they can only stay inside?" Gin asked.

"No, if your defeat count reaches 50 then all of your next matches will be a deathmatch. Till now, 48,000 contestants have lost their lives in this way."

"Pray that you won't end up like that!" Juvan replied. "Put on your mask and don't show your face to anyone."

Soon, Gin, Baste and Juvan went to register Gin's details.
