Chapter 6 - Duan Wu Shen.

The Imperial City of Xue Yue was bustling as the sun came up. Cultivators from big and small clan alike started to fill the markets hoping to get the next deal of the day. The city always had a blue and white color scheme regardless of where one went. The reason this was the case was because Xue Yue meant "Snow moon" so the colors just followed the name. Multiple conversations could be heard around the city about the most relevant topics that had recently occurred.

"Did you hear the news? The third Prince has finally come out of seclusion recently! I wonder what level his cultivation is at right now?"

"He has to already have broken through the Ling Qi Layer! It is said that his blood spirit is the strongest one the Duan Clan has ever recorded!"

"Sigh, I wish I could marry the third prince. He's so handsome! Even though he dresses with really peculiar clothing, he still looks imposing!"

These were the kind of phrases one would hear about Duan Wu Shen whenever his name came up in a conversation. The teenager in question was currently sitting in his large bedroom in the Imperial Palace speaking with his older siblings, Duan Xin Ye and Duan Wu Ya. "Wu Shen, is that really you? You've been in seclusion for the past five years and your cultivation hasn't increased at all! You must've gotten lazy! How can you call yourself the third prince when your cultivation is only at the top of the Qi Layer?!" Xin Ye was scolding her younger brother Wu Shen on his lax cultivation habits. At least, that's what she thought had occurred.

In reality, Wu Shen was training his Quincy and psychic abilities arduously after cultivating to the absolute top of the Qi layer. His family didn't know about his training because the god that sent him to that world had given him an actual training field that was connected to the shadow portal ability. This was used by Wu Shen to conduct his Holy Training and everything in between. Whenever he needed to cultivate, he would go back to his specially prepared cultivation room and do what needed to be done there. Whenever he cultivated, he would absorb mental energy {psychic abilities}, Reishi {Quincy}, and Qi. Together they formed a different type of Qi that Wu Shen referred to as Spiritual Qi. By his estimation, it was several times stronger than normal Qi so defeating cultivators up to the fourth Ling Qi Layer was no problem for him. That combined with the two schrifts that he had gotten from his martial spirit which were "The Power" and "The Zombie", his battle abilities were already monstrous. Even now, Wu Shen was absorbing mental energy from the atmosphere which he stored within himself to increase his power passively. {A/N: I feel like I should explain the reishi thing a bit more. The reason he could absorb and keep it within his body, although he's a Quincy, is because it's mixed with Qi and mental energy. The reason he has access to it in the first place is because as said before, his martial spirit is the soul king so that grants him access to reishi.}

Continuing his conversation with Duan Xin Ye, Wu Shen responded, "Xin Ye, trust me, I'm smart enough and strong enough to handle myself in the world. Sigh, I definitely haven't gotten lazy." Duan Xin Ye stared into Wu Shen's eyes to see if he was indeed telling the truth and when she saw no sudden movements, she sighed in relief. Wu Ya chuckled a bit when he saw how much the two cared about each other and walked up to Wu Shen, putting his hands on his shoulder with a warm smile on his face. "Welcome back, brother. I see your strange style of clothing hasn't changed over the years at all."

Wu Shen smiled mysteriously as Wu Ya spoke to him and looked his older brother in the eye, saying, "When are you going to stop talking about my clothing, brother? Maybe you just want a set of your own. Who knows, maybe one day you will actually get your own." Duan Wu Ya chuckled at Wu Shen's response but he couldn't help but feel that there was some underlying meaning to his words. Putting that to the back of his mind, Wu Ya then said, "Wu Shen, there many young nobles and cultivators gathering in the Lovesick Forest today on my call, would you like to join us? They haven't seen you in a while so I think you should pay them a visit. What do you think?"

Wu Shen thought for a bit and decided to agree, as he hadn't really had any conversation with the local young nobles since he arrived in this world. They all talked a bit more until Xin Ye and Wu Ya decided to leave Wu Shen to prepare for the event. As the duo left, Wu Shen closed the door behind them and leaned on it. He then smiled widely as he thought, 'They are now all indebted to me. When they die, all their souls will become mine. It is lamentable that cultivation increases their life spans but it doesn't matter, they can't outlive me. Well, I should get prepared for that event, maybe I'll pick a few fights with the nobles as I haven't really fought an actual battle since I've gotten to this world.'

Coming out of his thoughts, Wu Shen went to take a bath so he could hurry to the event.

[An hour later]

In the beautiful, luxurious, almost otherworldly place known as the Lovesick Forest behind the Imperial Palace, many people could be seen sitting under a pavilion exchanging words while laughing happily. It was an emerald forest of bamboo trees, small bridges, and a lot of small trenches that had flowing water inside of it. Even the sweet fragrance it gave off was something that could only be described as heavenly.

'No wonder this place only allows wealthy people and the nobles to enter. The common folk would probably make a mess of such beauty.'

Wu Shen was walking through the forest in awe as those thoughts entered his mind. He was currently wearing a sleeveless black shirt with white pants, white shoes, and black gloves. His muscles were large and had a multitude of visible veins as they had been forged from years of training. His blonde neck length hair had a strand that always fell to the left side of his face while his green eyes shone brightly in the sunlight, creating an image of an imposing but eerily Holy looking young man.

As he arrived at the pavilion with the others, the atmosphere suddenly became quiet and the nobles looked at him in confusion. Most of these nobles had never seen Wu Shen and those who did, hadn't seen him for years. They had only heard about him from rumors. Duan Wu Ya got up and went to receive him personally, causing the nobles to feel a tinge of foreboding but they waited to see what the second prince would say. Duan Wu Ya took Wu Shen to his table that had three seats and told him to sit down next to him. Xin Ye, who was on his other side, immediately started to question him about his clothing once again, causing Wu Shen to let out a deep sigh.

Duan Wu Ya then looked around and said while holding Wu Shen's shoulder, "This is the third prince and my younger brother, Duan Wu Shen. Since you haven't seen him for years, I'll let you all off with a warning as none of you greeted him." The nobles immediately stood up and outstretched their cups that were filled with the traditional Lovesick Alcohol.

"Yu Tian Xing greets Your Highness."

"Yue Tian Chen greets Your Highness."

"Meng Chong greets Your Highness."

....

And so it went on until every noble in the pavilion greeted Wu Shen respectfully. He, of course, greeted them back in the same manner as he wasn't someone who was arrogant or haughty. Duan Wu Ya then poured him some lovesick alcohol and told him that once he drank it, he would become drunk in love. Wu Shen unceremoniously drank it and unsurprisingly, it didn't have any effect on him. They all continued to chat together until Wu Shen suddenly looked at a certain noble and said with a warm smile on his face, "Meng Chong, I haven't been in a battle for years, why don't we have a small spar to entertain everyone else?"

Meng Chong immediately bowed his head and responded, "Your Highness, I wouldn't dare." Meng Chong was a cultivator of the fifth Ling Qi layer and had fought many battles in his life. Although he wasn't looking down on Wu Shen, he couldn't help but feel that this seemingly sheltered prince would cause problems for him if he lost. Wu Shen already knew what he was thinking and said, "No worries, I will not cause problems for you if I lose. Wu Ya can attest to that." Meng Chong looked at Duan Wu Ya and the latter nodded, causing him to breathe a sigh of relief. The duo then got up and Meng Chong used a beautiful movement skill to get to a small river in front of the pavilion extremely quickly.

The nobles there were impressed by his cultivation and looked at Wu Shen, wondering what kind of profound movement he would employ. Wu Shen used the Quincy high-speed movement technique known as Hirenkyaku, to get there almost immediately, looking like he had teleported across the distance. The nobles were shocked at his speed and wondered what kind of skill he practiced as they had never seen such a technique before.

"I will begin, Your Highness." Meng Chong released an absurd amount of extremely powerful battle Qi, causing everyone who felt it to silently praise his impressive power. Wu Shen then released his spiritual Qi which was dark blue in color and gave everyone an innate sense of dread that pressed down on their bodies when they felt it. It didn't feel as domineering as Meng Chong's but it had an unfamiliar type of danger to it that they had never felt before. The part that had them bewildered the most was the fact that they couldn't sense Wu Shen's cultivation at all. In fact, if one didn't see him fighting, they wouldn't sense him coming or attacking even if he was right behind them.

Meng Chong of course, felt it too but didn't take it for much. He immediately circulated a large amount of Qi around his fist and flew towards Wu Shen with incredible speed, causing the water around him to be almost split in the middle by his Qi. Wu Shen just told there with a calm, nonchalant look on his face that made Meng Chong slightly unnerved but he continued rushing towards him. When the punch almost reached Wu Shen, he suddenly folded his fists and aimed a punch at Meng Chong's own attack, causing a massive explosion to ensue. Two figures slid back out of the explosion of water with one of them going back farther than the other. The one who went further back was Wu Shen but if one looked at Meng Chong's fist, they could see that it was badly injured while Wu Shen's fist only had some slight scratches. Meng Chong was shocked at Wu Shen's physical strength but he thought that since he didn't use his full power, Wu Shen had been lucky. The latter, as always, seemed to know what he was thinking as the spiritual Qi around him started to intensify even more. Ten black ancient looking doors appeared behind his back and it's power immediately started suppressing Meng Chong's Qi.

"The Sealed Doors Spirit!!"
