Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Ocean

I was lying down on my stomach as his hands held my hips to his. I was trying not to scream but it was getting harder and harder to. He pushed into me faster and I held on to my pillow. I sweat and feel Sython's lips against the back of my neck. He slid his hand up to my breast and whispered into my ear. "Why didn't you come back for me?"

I burst awake and breathe heavily now that I am sitting up. Arine was already up and jumped after hearing me gasp. He and Cienar were both awake and looking at me now. Arine then kneeled beside me and patted me on the head. "Bad dream?" I avoided his eyes. "Uh... Not really... Just... Odd." I blushed. 'Sython is anything but bad when it comes to that...' Cienar was cooking some fish over a fire he made. "Oh. I would like to hear about it." I cringed. "You... Really don't." They both looked at me, blankly.

Ikko suddenly stood up from sleeping against his tree and stretched his spine. "Can we get out of here now?" Cienar looked back to his fire. "After we eat." Ikko sighed and let himself fall back into his resting spot. It shouldn't have been as graceful as it was. "So a thousand years? Great." Cienar turned to him with an annoyed look but Ikko had already closed his eyes.

A while later, we finished eating and woke Ikko up so we could finally continue on our mission. Only a half-hour later we made it out of the jungle and I was surprised by what I saw next. The jungle ended right beside a rocky beach and in front of us were miles and miles of ocean. I was speechless as to how we would get across it.

"The Demon King's guard shouldn't be looking here, but just to be safe, Silvera should come with me in the water," said Cienar without a hint of emotion. I became even more confused. Arine spoke before I could as he looked out onto the sea. "Wait, where are we going?" Cienar turned and pointed to an island out in the blue that I didn't see at first.

Arine noticed as well and crossed his arms. "Hold on, you only want her to go with you so you can have some alone time with her!" I suddenly felt unnerved. "We're splitting up? Why can't Arine and Ikko stay with us? Or why can't we go with them?" Arine held out his wing. "My wings can't get wet or else I won't be able to fly for days." Ikko didn't look at me to answer. "Same with mine. But they also gain hundreds of pounds which is very uncomfortable, and I can't move until they dry off."

I looked at Ikko's wings. They were almost as big as his body. I could see them getting heavy when wet because of all the feathers. Cienar answered my second question. "And I hate flying. It's the opposite of the ocean. I despise it. Plus, it would be safer for you if you came with me. Don't worry, we'll all meet again on the island." I turned to Cienar. "But I can't breathe underwater!" He didn't answer me for a moment and picked a weed with some small berries sprouting from it. "Eat this and you will," He said as he handed it to me.

I took the plant and examined it. "W-Well..." Cienar tilted his head with no expression. "You don't trust me yet, do you?" Arine glared at him. "I can see why." Cienar ignored him and kept his eyes on me. "You have nothing to worry about. I would never do anything to you." Arine coughed, "Liar!" and Ikko slapped the back of his head hard enough to make him stumble. "He's eccentric, but sirens mean what they say." I looked down at the plant, thinking it over before looking at Cienar again. "Okay." He smiled and looked over to Arine and Ikko. "You two go ahead."

Ikko crossed his arms. "You're not going to take forever, are you?" Cienar smirked. "I'm the fastest swimmer in the ocean. Of course not." Arine looked over to me as he and Ikko walked to the edge. "If he does anything, tell me and I will end him." He flew away before I could respond and I began to eat the berries. "Wow, these are good!" Cienar smiled. "Glad you like them. They work instantly so you don't have to worry about timing." I ate all the berries on the branch before he even finished his sentence.

I threw the vine away and then began to feel nervous as Cienar took my hand and led me to the water's edge. 'I'm glad that I'll be able to float underwater, my feet are killing me from all the rocks. Too bad I don't have shoes. I don't know how Cienar can stand it.' I was so lost in my thoughts that I forgot that I was walking into the water.

I was waist-deep when I started to panic. Cienar turned to see how I was doing and saw my fear. "Everything's alright. You don't have to be afraid. Just breathe how you regularly would." He pulled me closer to him and wrapped his arms around me. "Water is my home. It is only dangerous when you allow it to be. We'll go in together."

I nodded, still terrified. "O-Okay." He held me tighter and slowly stepped back into deeper water. The water was cold, but Cienar was warm. I didn't care how close I was to him, I was too afraid of going under. The water reached chin deep for me and I started to hyperventilate. Then all of a sudden, Cienar leaned down and kissed me. I was paralyzed. He pulled me under the water and I wasn't focused on my fear anymore.

I pushed him away angrily and I was going to yell at him, but my lungs filled with water and made me freak out again. However, I exhaled fine and it satisfied me as much as oxygen did. It was so weird to have water fill my lungs instead of air, but it got easier to do the longer I breathed. I looked back at Cienar, and he was in the form I had seen before. The silhouette of a man made of water, with glowing eyes and teeth. He smiled and took my hand.

I glared at him even though I knew the only reason he kissed me was to get my mind off of the water. 'But he could've done anything, and he decides to do that! He is so dead!!' He then pulled me close despite my struggling and started to swim fast toward the island. As he swam I gave up on trying to fight him and looked around at the open sea. The light shined through the water in beams, making beautiful reflections on the ocean floor and the coral reef.

The reef was so colorful, and the fish shined as they swam by. But as we swam out into deeper ocean, the floor became lower and too dark to see. There were seaweed in long waving stems coming up from the darkness. We swam through them as if they were trees in a forest. I started to get anxious, hoping that we would get out of there soon. 'I don't like how they're moving, it's worrying me.' Then all of a sudden, a piece of seaweed came up out of the darkness and grabbed my ankle, pulling me out of Cienar's arms.
