The city was told of the events that had occurred. Fishy bowed his head to the entire community, as he spoke:
"I'm terribly sorry for the events that happened here today. As much I wish I could reassure you, I am unable to conclude the events of what happened here."
The city was sceptical, as they could hear Clara crying whilst she rested inside the ruins of the meeting.
But it wasn't until a few hours passed, that Fishy announced the death of The Elder.
He announced it publically. The majority of the city was shocked and mourned for him, whereas there were a few who questioned the strange timing of his death, along with Fishy's excuse of messing with magic.
Rumours of terrorism quickly grew. Ziu asked Fishy if he should have the guards silence anyone who spoke, but Fishy knew that would only make things worse.
"They should know the truth," Clara said as she stood beside Fishy, watching him clean up some of the wreckage.
"I know... I'm sorry."
Fishy said very little to Clara until the following day when the funeral was to be held. At the earliest point, in the infinite darkness, The Elder's burial began.
It was a simple arrangement, but one that had the entire city come together.
The streets were flooded with citizens of all ages, races and genders.
The crowd parted, standing on either side of the road, as Fishy walked down the centre, holding in his arms the pale, decaying, wrinkled, body of The Elder, illuminated by Clara who stood next to them, bearing a weak flickering fiery torch in her hands.
No words were said, only the occasional weep and sniff.
The once-leader-of-the-village was surrounded by those that never gave up on him, and those that hadn't known him for long. But, from the random stories he used to tell travellers, it was as if they had grown up best friends.
The village executives stood at the sidelines. Tin stood with a tissue against her nose. At her legs, the three triplets, who loved the Elder very much, were unable to watch and instead buried their eyes deep into their mother's legs.
Silmor stood beside them, holding his back up as he watched with a shaking chest.
Ena watched over the city from above. It was her job to protect the city whilst the funeral was going on, but she couldn't take her eyes off of the ceremony, wishing she had such a thing for her late brother.
Ziu and Vogef stood beside the entrance to the forest that trapped the city. The Elder was to be buried in the forest, and, as the rain that poured above them, started to clear away, a quiet heartbroken voice cried out from the sidelines.
"I heard you were friends," Fishy said as he stopped moving, turning his head other to three people who stood away from the crowd. One who was too familiar with Fishy, and the other two he had never seen before. It was the butterfly celestial, Beauty, who was accompanied by two strangers.
"I'm really sorry." Beauty looked at Clara as she spoke, but Clara's already low expression never changed.
"I never really knew him." A voice from beside Beauty poked up. A teenage girl dressed in a yellow raincoat that covered her entire body, and protected her dark yellow-tinted hair. "He left shortly after I joined, but he was kind."
"He was strong." The other one spoke with a fierce grin that showed his sharp teeth, a well-built man whose exposed chest and arm-length golden hair were covered in water from the previous rain. "Talking with him was fun. Although, I just wish I could have beat him once. I wish him well in the afterlife."
Fishy didn't say anything more, as the service continued. He walked with the Elder's body into the forest, as the city and the celestials behind him, bowed out of respect for the man who gave his life for those he knew little about. It was fair to say, that he was the city.
Torches filled the air, with several paper lanterns being lit up and drifting slowly away into space. It added to the many stars above, with the clear skies that rested above, from stars light-years away.
A scene from a painting, or a dreadful memory that shouldn't have to be remembered for such a reason.
There wasn't a single person in the city that didn't see how beautiful it was, even the celestials watched with glittering eyes at the wonder they hadn't seen before.
It was a send-off worthy of someone who, not only dedicated their life to protecting others but also dedicated everything to growing the city.
Although, Beauty was struggling to see, as water started to form around her eyes.
"Goodbye, old friend." She whispered to herself.
