Chereads / The story of a hero named Fishy / Chapter 99 - One's Regrets

Chapter 99 - One's Regrets

Currently standing before Fishy, was someone who had caused him great confusion and stress. An unknown entity to him, the butterfly celestial, Beauty. She stood politely with her hands close together, unable to look at Fishy with her beautiful face, as she seemed distraught.

"I'm sure you have a lot of questions—" She asked, but Fishy interrupted…

"How was the burial? Did everything go alright?"

"It did… thank you for your cooperation, a great man was lost."

"Save it," Fishy said as he started to walk away, undesiring to speak to Beauty at this time. "I'm not the person you should be saying all that to." Fishy tilted his head back as if pointing to Clara's house behind him. "She's the one that needs to hear it."

"I know… I plan to speak to her…"

Fishy continued to walk away, having little interest in Beauty's words. He had given up caring about her and solely wished to do it his own way.

Beauty approached Clara's door, knocking on it before opening it herself, inviting herself in.

The conversations that Clara and Beauty spoke about, were unknown to everyone but them. And it was a story for another time, but one that was sooner than expected.

Beauty eventually left Clara's house, stepping back into the dark world, and walking around the village that all seemed to have returned to its previous, depressive state. She wandered around, watching as no one looked at her, or even noticed. The city was still grieving, and she had no intention to interrupt that. Which was why she continued to walk until she made it back to Fishy, who stood outside the meeting room, beside General Ziu.

The goddess approached the two with almost red eyes as if she had been crying. But her once scheming smile was no more.

"Are you done with your conversation?" Fishy spoke to her.

"Yes… if possible, I'd like to speak with you in private."

"Anything you wish to say can be said here, with Ziu next to me."

"Very well…" Beauty was irked by Fishy's words, as it was clear that she didn't want the uninterested city to hear, and so she whispered. "That man you met in Va, was none other than the head of the Church of Fintan."

"I suppose that isn't surprising… a monster like him should certainly be the boss. But, what does that have to do with anything? Why suddenly mention this?"

"Because it was our fault. The celestials created that monster. We created him, and many years later it led to the war that killed Clara's parents."

Fishy looked at the powerful being in front of him, almost on her knees, as if she was begging for an apology.

"I'll hear the full story some other time. I have more important things to worry about than the regrets of someone who wishes to die."

Ziu could only listen, unable to jump in with his opinion that he was unable to form from all the strange emotions that were swarming around.

"Fishy…"

Beauty was about to continue, but Fishy turned to her and said…

"Do you want me to tell you 'it's ok' or something? What do you want me to say? Do you want me to tell you that you did the right thing to keep secrets? Do you want me not to be mad that you haven't told me what I am?"

Fishy's words hurt and stung Beauty who knew that Fishy would work something out eventually. Fishy's identity was a mystery and one that Beauty knew about. And he wasn't going to ever just ignore this.

"I cannot atone for my past." Beauty says.

"Whatever…" Fishy was already leaving, Ziu was shocked and surprised by Fishy's strange annoyance that had swarmed him, "If you want forgiveness, start by helping the city."

"I'm afraid I cannot do that… the rules forbid me…"

"What a joke." Fishy had stopped his departure to say, flabbergasted at just how stupid the Celestials were. "Why would anyone want to become such an awful thing? Forced to observe and watch everyone die. You're a real idiot for wanting to bring Rose into that world." Those were Fishy's last words before finally vanishing into the darkness of the forever night.

Ziu was left standing awkwardly as Beauty also sulked, slowly dragging her body as she started to return to the forest where she came.
