Chapter 8 - A master plan

"Well, although you are slightly late you did bring us back a large chunk of meat. This is the first time we've had such a banquet. How did you even kill it?"

Clara asked the recently returned Fishy who almost broke his back carrying only a small part of the meat from a cowsaur.

"I managed to create a spell. At first, I created a barrier and now I can create fire. See?"

Fishy held up his finger like it was a lighter and created a small wisp that he danced around with ease.

"Wow…" Clara said experiencing magic for the first time.

"See," The elder said slowly making his way over to the table they sat on, looking much worse than the day before. "I told you that you had great magic."

"Grandad!" Clara screamed, dashing out of her chair. "I told you to rest."

"Nonsense!" The elder snapped. "All the villagers of the unnamed village are enjoying a feast thanks to the new leader. We always were so isolated from each other and now on this wonderful night, as we all rest by the fire, we are truly a community."

Fishy didn't understand the situation before he arrived. It all became so natural how quickly he adapted to his whole situation. Dying in his old world, fighting off a giant eyeball, communicating with the destroyer that terrorised the villagers, becoming the head of the village and now understanding the basics of magic. He felt a larger sense of completion within this week than he ever had in the 20 years of his life.

"What's your next plan, chief?" the elder asked as he took a large bite into the tender beef. "Oh my. I've never tasted such a delicious beast!"

"I'll go back to the same spot each day and train my magic whilst hunting our food. Although it will always be beef until Tin gets better, we don't have a choice."

"I see," The elder said, happy that Fishy was the next leader.

"What about us?" Clara asked, "What should we all do? Even now you've brought us all together for the first time, we'll do whatever you wish."

Fishy looked around at the banquet and noticed that many things were missing from what he wishes to create. Although the vision he dreams is one only he will see, he was destined to make it happen.

"Alright," he said. "I've already created a list of everything we need and ordered them by priority and ease of completion. We shall start with the first one tomorrow. I also need to explain how things are going to move forward from now on."

"What's the first step?" Clara asked.

"Shelter!"

The next day, at the break of dawn. Every villager stood outside the elder's house to which Fishy was staying. He stood in front of everyone only now looking at how few people there were in the village. He watched as they all looked at him with a glow in their eyes as if he already had won the popular vote.

"U-um…" Fishy started wishing he did more public speaking in his previous life. "To start, things are going to change around here. To keep this village alive we need to improve. We all need to chip in and work towards a life where we can all live happily. And so, I thought the best way to do that is to create a way for us all to communicate with each other and understand what needs to be worked on. Although it may seem simple, I'm going to need some advisors. I'll call them the executives as it sounds cooler… but these people will be our parliament. Together the few of us will meet regularly to make sure everything is going well. We will all decide on what to do and how to do it. We just need you to accept it?"

Fishy's public speaking skills were terrible. He wasn't sure if what he said got his point across, but from the small amount of murmuring in the audience, he assumed everyone understood.

"To announce the executives…" Fishy said, "Although this may change over time as we will need more eventually, the first person is Tin."

Upon being called, the still-recovering Tin walked and stood next to Fishy. Her black hair and beauty stood out causing the male villagers to focus on the speech.

"Tin has nearly recovered from the fever and as such will be an executive. She will help me bring food and clean water to you all. My goal is for you to experience all sorts of wonderful dishes and have a banquet that we will remember. And most importantly, I will get us alcohol!"

Fishy exclaimed the part about alcohol as if he knew it would motivate everyone. His secret weapon for the adults was alcohol and the weapon for the kids was whipped cream. Although he'd be lying if he said he didn't miss both those things.

"Next, as you all know, the elder's granddaughter will be the next executive. She'll be second in command and should the worst happen, she'll be the one in charge. A vice leader if you will. But she'll also be double as a secretary." Fishy quickly snuck it in before Clara could complain about being his secretary.

"Fine… whatever," She said from the crowd.

"That is all the executives for now. We will hold our first meeting shortly. The elder will also sit in on this meeting. As he was the original leader of this village I wish for him to know what is going on for the time being. I owe him a lot for letting me stay at his house. Which brings me onto the first order of business!"

Fishy could see he was losing the crowd. It was a rather tedious speech but that's because it had to be. He needed everyone to understand his system so there wouldn't be any complaints.

Luckily, Fishy had done his research into some of the villagers. He questioned the elder about every villager and what they like and dislike. He was very well aware of what several of the villagers wished to be.

He reached down onto the ground behind him and picked up several pieces of cloth that looked like the shirt of the triplets.

"In my hand are blueprints!" He exclaimed. "We need to build a shelter for this place and with this large land that we have, we should make use of this. I'm not suggesting building what you want, but with these designs, everyone should be happy!"

He threw the designs down on the floor as everyone gathered around them looking at the blueprints for what would be a cheap 21st-century house. Of course, none of them knew it and the house was missing several necessities like indoor plumbing and water supply. But with the passion in the eyes of the people that wished to build a kings castle, they were resolved to build better living conditions for all the villagers.
