Chereads / Zodiac: A Generation of Heroes / Chapter 21 - The Divine Conference

Chapter 21 - The Divine Conference

Reports of Leonidas killing Hades spread all across Mt. Olympus. With all the gods and goddesses granting Zeus calls all the heavenly beings to a conference to discuss the matter. The gods all meet at the Parthenon Temple.

Ares (God of War): So we're all meeting in the temple. Man this place has become a dump

Athena (Goddess of Wisdom and War): Enough with your blubbering brother, this building holds great history

Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt): There he goes again, looking down on everything he deems mediocre

Apollo (God of the Sun): Honestly I don't know how you've become the god of war. Athena should be the one in charge

Ares: Tch, so you two were called in as well. I can understand why Artemis would since she's an instructor but not you Apollo

"I will aid my sister with whatever she needs"

"But your sister is the goddess of the hunt, she can clearly protect herself"

Athena: I find it quite noble of you, to walk alongside your sister

Apollo: Your words are too kind Athena, thank you

Hestia (Goddess of Hearth): My my what a joyous occasion to see all of you again

Apollo: Oh Hestia (blush), I didn't know you would be here

"Why wouldn't I? I'm an Olympian as you all are"

Ares: Former Olympian, you abandoned your post

"Only because there were too many "distractions" for me to continue work"

Athena: You'll have to excuse my brother, he hasn't been himself lately

Apollo: Oh really? The arrogance and condescending attitude looks the same to me

Ares: Hmm, I suggest you watch your tone sun god, working during the day seems to have you fiesty

(Clap, clap, clap)

"Well, well, well, looks like we're all getting ourselves comfortable"

"Dionysus!!!"

Dionysus (God of Wine): That's my name don't wear it out. Hey, no drinks?

Ares: Who invited the drunk?

Apollo: And here I thought things might be civilized

Athena: Dionysus, you mind telling us why you're here

"Well I was called by the king himself, why else would I be here?"

Hestia: For the alcohol

Apollo: I don't believe one bit that Zeus invited you

Hestia: If theirs one thing I hate about men, it's their need to lie

"Fine, you want me to say it? I came for the beer, happy"

Demeter (Goddess of Agriculture): Now, now, no need to threat, everyone I'm here to ensure my brother is on his best behavior

"Come now sister, I'm here for a good drink, not to cause any ruckus"

Artemis: It's nice to see you, Demeter, you're looking well

Demeter: I am Artemis, though I'm happy that the monster who abducted my daughter is gone the plant life hasn't changed yet

"That's right, Kore hasn't returned home yet"

"Uh-huh, I thought she'd leave the underworld and make her way back to the garden once the news of Hades' death became known but no news has come to me"

"But don't mind me, how are you all?"

Artemis: Aside from my padawan gone missing, Selene still isn't herself

Hestia: Poor thing, her padawan also ran away

Ares: Than they're weak, if they are chosen to be zodiacs but can't even survive their training than why pick them

Ares: Which brings us back to the topic at hand, we're all here to discuss Hades

"And in due time we will Ares"

Posiedon (God of the Sea): But for now we wait for my brother to arrive

Ares: Poseidon

"Fancy seeing you here, can't remember the last time we've seen you outside the sea"

Poseidon: Normally I'd leave things to my brother and not get involved, but this is a pressing matter. An Olympian was murdered, and not just any, one of the pillars who helped create Mt. Olympus, an act that cannot go unrecognized and without repercussions.

Athena: We all feel the same way as you Poseidon

Ares: Tch, speak for yourself

Poseidon: Hmm, do you really? Look I know you all have your own opinions on Hades, but he is my brother and he helped us fought to protect and preserve this land. Though his methods may be "unorthodox".

Dionysus: Hmm, that's quite the understatement...Poseidon (he says in slurred speech)

"The conference has yet to begin and you're already intoxicated"

"No, I'm not drunk, not even tipsy. I'm sober enough to know why we're here and why leaving this crime unappointed could unleash a grave danger"

(Everyone's attention heightens)

Poseidon: Yes, I'm aware of what could happen if we let this slide

Dionysus: Then are you aware that the culprit has already returned home to where the other heroes in training reside. Just think of what stories he's telling the other zodiacs

"What if the other zodiacs try to attack us?"

"Blasphemy! We are superior to them"

"But if a mere mortal was able to defeat Hades than this generation is stronger than we thought"

Poseidon: They're all growing restless, where is Zeus? Tch, leave it to Dionysus to stir things up

(Crowd grows restless. Suddenly trumpets sound and everyone quiets down. )

Hermes (God of Trade; Messenger God): Hear ye, hear ye, our lord our king of the skies now enters.

Morpheus (God of dreams): His domain reigns superior to us all. You may be seated.

(All the gods take their seats)

Zeus (God of Lightning): Thank you Hermes and Morpheus, I take it handling everyone was tougher than I thought huh Poseidon

"My apologies, my king"

"Please, I am your brother, you may call me as such"

Ares: So father, you mind telling us why we're all gathered here?

"Always ready to get straight to the point Ares"

Ares: Tch

Hera (Goddess of Marriage; Queen of Olympus; wife of Zeus): Ladies, how are you all

"Wonderful my Queen, though I wish we'd be meeting for a betting reason"

"That we can all agree"

Zeus: I called you all because of the Hades incident

Demeter: Is it true Zeus, was Hades really murdered?

(The room grows silent, everyone awaits for Zeus' response)

...

Zeus: Yes... Hades is dead... by the hands of his zodiac protege

Ares: Interesting

Apollo: Than we must kill the boy, such a heinous crime could influence the other zodiacs to rebel

Zeus: I am aware of that Apollo

"Than why are we just sitting here?"

Athena: If we go and attack now, the children will view this as a violent reaction, and they will think we rule with brute force instead of reason and objectivity

Zeus: Exactly, that is why we must handle this delicately

Artemis: So you're asking us to do nothing?

Zeus: I am asking you to continue to instruct your proteges, and let me take care of it

(Everyone remains quiet, grimacing at the thought of remaining complacent)

"Alright, I trust you brother"

"Very well my king, we will all support you"

Zeus: Thank you all, this meeting is now over; dismissed

As all the gods and goddesses depart, Ares remains, upset having to oblige on his father's orders

Morpheus: Something troubling you, Ares?

"Tch, the mortal has dishonored the tradition, he's insulted every god and yet my father still decides to not fight!!!!"

"I'm sure the king has his reasons"

"Could you keep a secret Morpheus?"

"I am only a servant to the gods"

"Than do me this favor; plant the seed of destruction into Leo's visions. Make him fear what is to come if he chooses to live as a zodiac demi-god. If he confesses than the king will have no choice but to acknowledge my initiative."

Morpheus: And if he does nothing?

Ares: Than the zodiac, will perish and this selection of heroes will be a mere afterthought

Ares begins formulating a plan to eliminate Leo and the rest of the zodiac. The Olympians return to their homes remaining patient to hear the next steps. Meanwhile, the zodiacs remain flustered by Lionel's act; while they're anxious about the incoming consequences they also keep their distance from Leo. Lionel begins to feel ostracized and feels he should leave.
