"Isn't he beautiful?" A man cooed, staring at a fetus inside a glass tube filled with blue liquid, "I never thought that it would work but the fetus hasn't died yet." The man hummed running a pale hand down the side of the glass tube. One day the fetus will become a baby, next a child, then a teen, and hopefully also an adult. But the man couldn't think too far ahead because all his past attempts at haven't even made it past the embryo stage, this one just so happens to be lucky enough to do so, though how lucky will it continue to be until it finally dies. He doesn't know, and to be honest with himself he doesn't want to find out because he's grown very attached to the small fetus as it would surprisingly kick and squirm every once in a while.
"Jackson?" A female's voice called out, "don't stay down here too long. Come up and eat dinner, please." The woman barely spoke above a loud whisper as she stepped fully into the basement, being mindful of the small fetus that squirmed at the sound of her voice. The woman knew what her husband was doing was not only illegal but also dangerous but she couldn't help but also place a hand onto the glass watching the fetus float.
"They passed the embryo stage Vanessa, darling," Jackson informed, gripping her other hand into his. They both knew what was happening was wrong but how could anyone blame them, they always wanted a little girl or boy but knew that it was impossible for them because both were infertile.
"Do you think it'll be a girl or boy," Vanessa asked, curious as to what her husband think, "I think that it might be a girl though I wouldn't really mind a boy." She signed, rubbing the back of her husband's hand.
"I think a girl also, but I hope it's a boy," He signed when his wife lightly nudged his arm, "I don't care if it's a girl though either." He quickly imputed, "I just hope they live to get out of this tube."
The couple both looked each other in the eye before silently coming to an agreement with each other. They would wait until the fetus has fully matured before bringing them out into the world. Vanessa has yet to get out the house in over eight months just to make everything seem more realistic, once the fetus matures enough that it can come out of the tube they would announce that they just had a baby to the world. The plan seemed simple enough but they had to get their hands on a birth certificate, they already had the fake pregnant belly on display whenever a friend or family member came to visit so they didn't have to worry about any of that but they have yet to get a nursery set up for when that time comes.
"Let's eat dinner, then tomorrow let's head out to buy a bunch of baby stuff." Jackson suggested, both removing their hand from the tank and turning away to leave the basement, cutting off the light and with one final look, headed back upstairs.
