It has been a hundred years since the discovery of the legendary Quetzalcoatl. A mythical creature that was able to survive the vacuum of space. The creature made a huge genetic breakthrough which resulted in the era of space exploration.
Planetary Colony 51
"Welcome to Colony 51, Follow directive procedures as we embark on a new journey within this planet"
A CSS-15 or Civilian Space Shuttle version 15 landed into its designated spaceport. Wearing a fitted black-light space suit, Alexa Fortune, the only passenger of the CSS-15 was immediately greeted by a female military android flight attendant. After finishing the academy, she was finally admitted to her first job after a couple of interviews.
"Good luck madam,"
"Thank you," Alexa Fortune thanked the android before she picked up her luggage and disembarked the CSS-15. The spaceport was designed similarly in every planetary colony. It was carefully architected and engineered for people to easily get used to. In this case, Alexa walked to the information desk and handed her own certificate of service. The information personnel who was another automaton quickly took and scanned Alexa's files.
"1st Lieutenant Alexa Fortune, we've been expecting you. Please hold on a moment."
Alexa could only smile at the emotionless automaton. First Lieutenant was the highest rank the academy could provide. It was given to those who excelled the most within the academy. However, Alexa couldn't appreciate it all. Her genetic enhancement made things easier. Alexa wanted excitement, a challenge. It was the reason she took one of the most dangerous jobs existed.
"Thank you for waiting, madam."
It was then, the android handed over a silver-metal identification wristband. Alexa put it on normally, the device had a 3D projection of her face and a GPS system. It was known for its military use and useful for search and rescue operations. Suddenly, Alexa was bewildered to the 2nd item the android handed over. It was an extremely familiar cylindrical metal device she learned from the academy.
"Why are you handing me an SCD?"
The SCD or commonly known as the Satellite Control Device. It normally used by a commanding officer in the army. Alexa had no real experience in the army aside from theoretical simulation which was done within the academy.
I couldn't be in command in my first job. Alexa thought. She might've excelled academically and physically. However, she hadn't much interacted with people especially her age. Rating her own self, she wasn't fit in command.
"I was advised to handed over to Lieutenant Alexa Fortune upon arrival, please the director is waiting for you."
Alexa was still confused. However, she knew the android had nothing more to do with this and proceeded to the next facility connected to the starport. Alexa knew there were only 3 Union facilities in this new colony. The starport, the expeditionary lounge, and the armory. Entering the 2nd facility, Alexa found a huge lobby. There were enhanced multilayered glass instead of walls people could see the beauty of the new world through it. Furthermore, Alexa noticed a few dozens of men hanging around the lobby, enjoying drinks and food. It was then, another android dressed as a bartender approached Alexa.
"This way madam,"
The android bartender guided Alexa in a smaller room, it was then she saw 4 people around a rectangular spectrum table. One was dressed in a black casual suit and the other was in military space armor-suit.
"All the people are here, finally we could start the briefing." The man in the black suit finally spoke, his age should be around 50's. It was then Alexa realized she was in command. The room suddenly turned black, and the spectrum table began showing a 3D architecture of a certain facility.
"I am Director Dunne Burgess. You know who I am. Let me get straight to the point."
Director Dunne Burgess, the largest shareholder of the multi-trillion space mining corporation.
"This is the colony 51 mining facility -, the first expedition team helped established the facility—it was built to mine a similar mineral of Terapiridium. However, we have discovered alien lifeforms within the area. Here is the footage."
Terapiridium was the first mineral needed to create space suits, bulletproof and flexible material. No wonder they wanted it so badly. It was then as if the world stopped. For the first time in a hundred years, the human race finally encountered an alien species which was stronger than them. The video showed a huge blue-skinned being slaughtering the first expedition team and everyone within the area. The live bullet couldn't penetrate its skin.
"I already requested approval of the Federal Space Union, your mission is to locate the lair of these monsters, we named it "Blue Minotaurs. All the information you needed has been sent to your SCD. I want you to start immediately Lieutenant." The director Dunne Burgess then looked at Alexa.
It was then, the lights turned back on and the briefing was finished. Alexa found herself the center of attention. It was instinctive as Alexa quickly salute and replied. "Yes! Sir!"
"Good."
The director then left the room.
The other 3 men turned to Alexa,
"Your orders madam."
"Hold on."
Alexa turned the SCD, a 3D touch-based monitor appeared. Alexa made a few swipes before she finally accepted her official job.
