Raina sat in her bedroom really regretting the fact that she just blurted out like that in front of Asher and Leon. She stared down at all her clothes on the floor. Nothing. Piles and piles of clothes but nothing seemed to look good enough. She flopped black on her bed and then curled up in the fetal position. What on earth should she do? Crowded spaces had always been an issue for her. Always made her uncomfortable and feeling like she's trapped. Maybe she could just text Asher telling him she didn't feel well enough to go. Yeah right she would never hear the end of it. She rolled back on her back covering her face with her arm. Then there's Leon, she told him she was going. What if he spent the night waiting on her? Yeah right, who was she kidding. Why on earth would he do that?
Raina got up and moved to the window. She pulled back her curtain to see the house next door which belonged to Leon and his brother Luke. They had just moved in around her 15th birthday. For the first two years they had just rented the house until Leon had made enough money for the downpayment. She remembered their first meeting like it was yesterday. Some mail that was supposed to go to them had been put in her families mailbox instead. Her mother found it while going through and asked Raina to take it to them.
Raina walked up the steps to the door and knocked gently. It was Luke that answered. She began to hand him the mail explaining the whole situation when Leon came up behind him. From the moment she saw him it was hard to say he was anything but gorgeous. His hair was longer back then and he was just slipping on a black t-shirt so Raina got a nice glance at his abs. She had began to stutter and had just decided to thrust the mail at him not even paying attention to whether or not he caught it. Then she ran home feeling beyond embarrassed.
Raina chuckled at the memory rubbing her forehead. Leon's truck was still there so he must not of left yet. She turned back to her pile of clothes and just decided on simple. A blue t-shirt with dark blue jeans along with a gray hoodie. It was practically summer time but still would get a bit chilly in the night time. She stared at the mirror wondering whether she should put some make up on and what in the world to do with her hair. There was a buzzing sound on the dresser. It was her phone ringing she forgot she had put it on vibrate for graduation. Glancing down at the name she seen it was Asher and picked up. "Hello?"
"Hey there gorgeous, you haven't decided to bail on me have you? Cause I mean if you wanna just get a pizza and cuddle, I'm cool with that." Asher said with a small laugh after. He was in a chipper mood being his normal goofy self.
"Hey, yeah no I haven't bailed on ya. I actually just finally figured out what to wear. Just gotta do something with my hair and face..." Raina said as she grabbed her make up bag, brush, and a ponytail out of the drawer.
"Eh just put a bag over your head. I'm sure you're not gonna make it that long there anyway. Remember last time? You literally made it ten minutes before bawling and begging me to take you home. Oh and be sure to tie your hair up. Cause I really don't want to have to hold all that hair back if you puke..." Asher said laughing a bit.
"Haha...not funny. It was longer then ten minutes! And if anyone pukes it'll be you, boy you know I'm a lush." Raina shot back. Asher just laughed again.
"Alright, alright maybe it was twenty minutes. Hey now, least I don't have long hair that you have to hold back." he joked. But then in a more serious tone, "Honestly though, if you don't wanna go we can just chill at your house...I know how you get and why..." Suddenly it was just quiet for a beat. It took Raina a second but then she quickly picked the conversation back up.
"No seriously, I'm fine and I want to go. Plus it's been awhile since we've done anything stupid" she answered forcing a big smile though he couldn't even see it.
"Well good, cause I'm in your driveway." Suddenly there was a sound of a car horn going off. Raina moved to her front window and sure enough there he sat in his blue pick up truck. Her mouth dropped.
"I'm not even ready yet! I'll be down in ten!" she quickly hung up the phone and threw it in her purse. Throwing her blonde hair up in a ponytail and quickly just doing some basic make up, she was done. She quickly ran down the stairs said goodbye to her parents and booked it out the door. Running to Asher's truck she couldn't help but glance over to Leon's driveway to see if he had left yet. Sure enough the driveway was empty. She didn't know why but her heart kind of sunk to her stomach. Maybe he left a little early to help Ashley set up for the party. Turning back to Asher's truck she opened the door and hopped in. Asher was wearing his black leather coat, t-shirt, and blue jeans. Raina giggled a bit.
"Ain't the leather coat a bit overkill?" she giggled. He just shook his head at her.
"A leather jacket is never over kill!" he said as he shook his finger at her. She just pushed his hand away.
"Oh ok, Fonz....ayyyy!" Raina said as she gestured towards him. They both just laughed and Asher tousled her hair. They slipped into a comfortable silence as they drove. Sometimes flipping through the radio channels just to decide that there was nothing good on. Finally they pulled up to Ashley and Clarissa's house. There were tons of cars in the driveway and on the lawn. "Definitely not a small get together huh?"
"Definitely not, but remember Raina, we can just leave. We don't even gotta go in." Asher assured her. Raina glanced around as her eyes landed on Leon's truck. She shook her head.
" No let's go in, it'll be fun." she said grinning at him.
