"Hey, if you keep shouting gibberish and keeling over whilst coughing blood, I doubt that I'd retain my position if the king came around for a visit as he'd suspect that I'll treat other prisoners as cruel as I have to you... So maybe just quieten down a bit as to not arouse suspicion? The walls are thin, after all!" Pleaded the guard, frequently looking to his left and pacing often, attempting to think of something to persuade Sam. After all, even if Sam lost his privileges as a noble, they couldn't kill peasants either unless they did so without the king's knowledge and quietly, allowing them to make an easy excuse and, since the victim was a peasant, there would be no investigation.
Although Sam heard these pleas from the panicked dwarf, he was too caught up in his shock. Despite everything happening instantly, it felt like it took an eternity and the pain he felt was everlasting, remaining as a knot in his stomach even after the flashback ended.
Sorting himself out and standing up with trembling knees, he sighed in relief as his plan, although it had a few flaws, worked. He could clearly understand the dwarf and he knew how to speak its language!
As he heard this guard's plea, he considered ways to escape from this hellhole of a dungeon. He originally planned to continue his act and arouse the suspicion of those nearby, however, this had an uncertain outcome as this could lead to three options:
1. The guards quickly kill him and hide him before anyone notices
2. Someone nearby notices and the guards get in trouble but then they put him down as a means to not waste any resources of the traitor.
Or 3. He gets the guards in trouble and has an easier time trying to escape without the prying eyes of the guards.
Of course, this plan was appealing, however, it had too many outcomes and was unreliable. He didn't want to rush into things and die another early life. After all, he didn't know if he would remain an anomaly and retain his memories or even if he would be reincarnated again!
After a while, of planning, he decided that it was best to try and contact someone through the barred windows in the room since it leads straight out to the city. If he meets someone, he would try and ask for help or, if they accidentally drop anything, steal it for later use, the sharper - the better.
Just as Sam was planning his escape, the familiar notification bell sounded in his mind.
"Ding!

Accept? (Y/N)"
Sam had completely forgotten that the system was an actual system which you would find in those cliche webnovels and thus had missions and rewards! However, wasn't this expiratory date a tiny bit closer than expected? Seems quite specific as well... Is this the date Sam would die if he didn't complete the mission? Or was he just overthinking it?
Nonetheless, without the skip of a heartbeat, he shouted: "Accept!"
