Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

As the days dragged on in the villa, the tension was unbearable. Everyone had fallen ill, their bodies wracked with fever, but I had to keep moving, keep caring for them. The babies were a constant source of joy, their tiny forms providing me with a sense of hope in this strange, almost apocalyptic world. But the rest of the family? I wasn't sure if they'd wake up at all, or if they'd even survive the fever that seemed to consume them all.

But then, the first signs of change began.

It started with Mu Zu's parents, who had been unconscious and feverish like the others. One morning, I was in the kitchen, checking on the babies, when I heard a faint sound from the living room. It was a low rumble at first, almost like a tremor. I hurried to investigate, only to find Mu Zu's father, his body tense and rigid as he sat up.

With a groan, he opened his eyes, the deep brown irises dark with confusion, but there was a sudden strength in him. His hands clenched into fists, and with an effortless motion, he pushed the heavy sofa beside him away as if it weighed nothing at all. My heart skipped in my chest.

"Mu Zu's father?" I called cautiously, unsure of what was happening. "Are you... alright?"

He looked at me, a strange glint in his eyes, as if his mind was adjusting to this new reality. "I... feel different," he murmured, his voice deep and powerful. His gaze flickered to the window, as if trying to sense something.

Before I could respond, Mu Zu's mother stirred, her brow furrowing as she woke up, her body clearly weaker than her husband's, but there was something strange about her too. She gasped, clutching her chest as though trying to catch her breath. Then, her eyes flickered blue, almost glowing in the dim light. I saw it—her powers were awakening, and it wasn't just ordinary water manipulation. Her movements were fluid, graceful, and almost effortless. She lifted her hand, and I watched as water materialized in the air, swirling around her fingers like a living thing.

For a moment, I just stood there, stunned. "You... you're okay?" I whispered.

Mu Zu's father stepped forward, a grin on his face, his power coursing through him. "We're fine, Xui Bai. We'll help you. Don't worry."

He lifted one of the heavy chairs effortlessly and moved it across the room, placing it down gently beside me. Mu Zu's mother, still a bit shaky, extended her hand and gently caressed the water, transforming it into a soft mist that surrounded the room, calming the atmosphere.

They didn't waste any time. Both of them immediately set to work helping me with the babies. Mu Zu's father, with his newfound strength, moved boxes and bags around with ease, gathering medical supplies that we might need, while Mu Zu's mother worked to bring comfort to the others by using her water powers to cool down their feverish bodies.

It was strange to see them like this, but it was also comforting. The world outside was falling apart, and my family was slowly waking up with powers that might make them the only hope we had left.

And then, it happened to me.

One night, as I was sitting alone in the garden, rocking the babies in my arms, something inside me shifted. I felt a strange pull, a tug deep within my chest, and before I could fully understand it, I felt a rush of energy. My hand instinctively pressed against the soil beneath me, and before I knew it, vines shot out from the ground, wrapping around my arm, pulling gently on the earth as if I was connecting to something larger than myself.

I gasped, pulling my hand away, and the vines receded, but something had changed.

I could feel it.

Looking around, I realized the plants surrounding me had grown more vibrant, more alive, than they had been before. The roses in the garden bloomed before my eyes, their petals a brilliant shade of red, and the ivy along the walls twisted into intricate patterns. It was as if the world around me had come alive at my touch.

I stood up slowly, stunned by the power coursing through me. But that wasn't all. As I looked down, I realized something else—my space powers had evolved. My connection to the space pocket I'd stored supplies in had grown stronger, deeper, and more complex. It wasn't just a small room anymore; it felt like an entire world.

In the center of my mind, there was a portal, shimmering with light, a small, glowing orb that expanded and contracted with my breathing. I focused on it, and suddenly, the space world that I had stored everything in opened up to me—vast and limitless. I could feel every inch of it, every object within it, from the baby supplies I had stored to the medical kits and canned food.

But it wasn't just a world filled with items anymore. As I reached out mentally, I could see paths forming—new spaces inside the world, rooms and corridors that could expand and contract at my will. This was no longer just a storage pocket. It was a realm that could grow and adapt to my needs.

"Xui Bai?" Mu Zu's voice broke through my concentration.

I turned to see her standing at the doorway, her eyes wide with a mix of concern and awe.

"Are you... okay?" she asked, her voice soft. "You're glowing."

I looked down at my hands and realized that they were glowing with a soft, greenish light, like the very earth itself was alive within me.

"I... I'm fine," I said slowly. "It's just... my powers. They've changed."

Mu Zu's face lit up with a smile. "That's amazing! You're even stronger than before." She stepped closer, placing a hand on my shoulder. "We'll figure this out, Xui Bai. We'll get through this together."

I nodded, feeling a sense of determination surge within me. The world was falling apart, but I wasn't alone. We all had powers now, and with our combined strength, we might just be able to survive the nightmare that was beginning to unfold.

As the days passed, more of the others began to awaken, their powers manifesting in unique ways. Chen Na, always the quick-witted and resourceful one, found herself able to manipulate light, bending it to her will, creating illusions that helped to keep us hidden. Jian Ren's father was able to communicate with the earth, sensing movements and tremors in the ground, a valuable skill for warning us of approaching danger.

As the storm raged on outside, and the world slowly descended into chaos, I knew that I couldn't be the only one to hold things together. But with my family, and the new powers that we had all awakened to, we had a chance.

And when I looked at my babies, I knew that I couldn't let them grow up in this broken world without a fight.

We would survive. We would rebuild. And together, we would face whatever came next.
