Very early the following day, Tan drove down to his family house and parked his car outside. He checked his face in the rearview mirror and quickly touched his brows. He winked at himself when he decided he was satisfied with his appearance.
He got down from the car. He was dressed in his usual office wear, but there was a kind of swagger to his steps as he picked up some files from the back seat of his car, and then he went inside the house.
He paused when he entered the house, there wasn't much movement in the place. He frowned as he wondered why his mother and Nana were not at the dining hall having breakfast.
He had imagined he would walk up to them at the dining hall and pretend to have his mother look over some files, then offer to give Nana a lift to the office. Meeting an empty dining hall wasn't part of his plans, he thought with a frown.
