After trekking for what Lucas could only guess to be an hour or so a the pair seemed to have left the forest and found themselves on a road.
In the distance a large city surrounded by tall walls and watchtowers could be seen.
As they approached there was a surprisingly small amount of traffic moving in and out of the city, or rather they were the only traffic except for a few guards patrolling around the gate while staring suspiciously at them.
There was some farmland in the surrounding area but no one was working the fields. The sun was setting so perhaps everyone had already gone home?
More and more questions sprung to mind but all of them were left unanswered.
Surprisingly the man carrying him only had to say a few words before the guards seemed to nod at them before letting them through.
'Wasn't there gonna be any kind of interrogation when only the two of them came back?' He thought to himself.
Looking around bricked houses seemed to be the norm closest to the walls but a few hundred meters further in wooden houses seemed to populate the majority of the town.
Few people could be seen wandering around the streets, but from what he could see they were wearing clothing that looked to be from the medieval times. What surprised him however was the simple fact that everyone even the small children seemed to be carrying weapons.
Thinking of the strange creatures, the one that attacked him and the unknown one that seemed to have devastated the group the armoured man was a part of he thought it made a lot of sense.
Some of the pedestrians looked curiously at him but seemingly lost interest after a while as if they realized something.
Looking down at himself he couldn't figure out how a person in what he could only guess to be weird clothing to them would not invoke more curiosity, he had sadly along the way of being carried lost his flip-flops but still his jeans should raise and eye or two right?
Maybe, maybe he wasn't the first to be transported? Perhaps it was actually really common in this world! Then it should be simple to find someone he could communicate with compared to this log-head.
After a while they arrived at what Lucas could only liken to a small mansion. While it wasn't huge compared to his previous worlds houses it was much larger compared to the other houses they had passed on the way. While he hadn't entered it yet the other houses seemed to only have about two-three rooms while this one seemed to hold at least triple the amount at least.
It was however made entirely out of bricks with a small garden inside of the waist high fence. Which made it seem very fancy seeing as none of the previous houses had anything close to a garden unless you counted the odd tree growing along the road they walked on.
"VoVadod hohänondode?" Distracted by the giants living quarter he had failed to spot a middle aged man wearing a brightly red robe that seemed to scream LOOK AT ME.
"VoVi hohamomnonadode i bobakokhohålollol, dodetot vovaror sosomom omom dode vovänontotadode popå osossos." The man answered the middle aged man.
"Uhm, hello? English please?" Lucas said seeing as he was unable to understand them.
"VoVemom äror hohanon? Enon nonykokomomlolinongog?" The middle aged man asked after looking at Lucas.
"JoJa, ocochoh hohanon äror enon hohelolarore! ToTitottota, jojagog boborordode vovarora dodödod momenon hohanon hoheloladode momigog utotanon poproroboblolemom!" The full plate armour answered excitingly while gesturing towards the hole in his armour.
'Oh snap, am I gonna get sold to this uncle now that they know I can heal people?' Lucas thought warily to himself.
"MoMenon fofå inongoga dodumommoma idodéeror foföror hohanon äror "mominon"." The walking armour suddenly said.
After a few more exchanges all three of them entered the house before Lucas was tossed on a sofa by the beast after which he said a few more words to the middle aged man before leaving.
The middle aged man sat down next to him and started rummaging through his pockets before producing a small marble that seemed to be made out of silver. Shortly after a glittery powder was scoped up in one hand before he blew it on Lucas face.
"Cough, cough, wha-what are you doing?!" Lucas screamed out in surprise as the glitter got stuck in his throat.
"KoKanon dodu foförorsostotå vova-at I am saying?" The middle aged man answered him.
"Wait, I can understand your words?" Lucas exclaimed in surprise.
"Of course, this is powder blessed by the goddess of language Eshu after breathing it you can communicate with anyone else who has also gained her blessing. Because of our worlds diversity every newborn or newcomer is given this blessing." He stated as a matter of fact.
"Now more importantly, I would like to confirm something so please hold this marble for a little while."
Seeing no problem with it Lucas picked up the marble upon which it started to shine brightly for a second before going dark.
"Life-force affinity? Is it an off-shot of life magic? Only light and life magic is normally able to...he's also a confirmed apprentice...what if?" The man mumbled to himself, seemingly lost in thoughts and forgetting Lucas was next to him.
"Uhm, would you mind telling me where we are? And perhaps who you are? My name is Lucas" Lucas asked.
"Oh, oh where are my manners I am Matthias Flamewine the third. Also seeing as you are a newcomer I suppose I should say welcome to the crucible."
