"Why does the house seem so quiet when the kids are here?" Eva asked her husband, Richard, as they walked into the house hand in hand.
They both still referred to Brad and Brenna as kids even though both of them were fully grown and Brenna was married with a child of her own already.
"Maybe they're out. But I can hear Jeremy's voice," Richard said as he carried their bag up the stairs.
"Grandma!!" Jeremy called happily, shooting out from the kitchen where he had been pestering the cook until he heard his grandfather's voice.
"Hey, bullet!" Eva responded with a giggle as she caught him in her arms.
Bullet was her pet name for him because of the way he was always running around nonstop. Initially, they had been worried about him when he couldn't walk at the age of two. But the moment he started standing, he had been all over the place.
