"Do you have pictures of his childhood? I'd love to see it," Melanie pleaded with Chairman Wang as they discussed over a glass of wine.Ā
"It should be around somewhere," Chairman Wang said as he stood up and headed for his study. He came out with two large photo albums and handed them to Melanie, who pored over them greedily. She wanted to see what her boys had looked like at each stage of their lives.Ā
She sniffled and wiped the tears from her eyes when she got to the last photo on the last album, "Thank you so much for taking care of him and bringing him up so well," Melanie told Chairman Wang with a small smile.
She hadn't liked that he was controlling Tae-joon's life or that Tae-joon was so scared of disappointing his grandfather, but she couldn't complain about that either. The old man had loved Tae-Joon the best way he knew how to. It wasn't her place to teach him how he should have raised the son she lost.
