The shrilling sound of the ringing telephone roused Melvin from sleep. He blindly reached for the telephone. "Hello... what?" He sat up straight on his bed and picked up his wristwatch to check for the time. The time was past 9 in the morning, so he could tell his mother was in her office already.
"Were you drunk or something? How could you be kissing a girl in such a public place?" His mother asked angrily.
"I wasn't kissing her. We were just talking," Melvin said as he stood up from the bed and walked over to the window, running his fingers through his hair. It wasn't like this was his worse scandal, but he could imagine how bad it would be, especially with how innocent she had appeared.
"Just talking? Mouth to mouth, you mean?" She hissed impatiently.
"You see? This is the exact reason I don't think you should move around without your guards..."
