"Until death do us part..."
~
What will be the first thing you'd remember of a person? Every time Shannon remembers to ask her beloved, and her beloved would always say the same answer over. The way they'd look at me, her husband would say. Shannon pauses to stare at her husband, then she'd turn and look out the window. Their marriage had always been a dreary one. Her husband had only ever laid with her once, all because he found out she can't get pregnant. They argued because of that, but see, even Shannon haven't known she was 'infertile'. So, for all those years they've gone quiet. Shannon learned to never get angry. She learned to not cry or hold disdain towards the husband she loves dearly.
And Shannon would ask that same question again. What will be the first thing you'd remember of a person? To which her husband would answer that it is the way they'd look at him. And Shannon would look at her husband, and think of the first instance he cheated with the neighbor. And then she'd turn her gaze towards the window, and in her melancholy, she'd remember all the names her husband would mutter in sleep. All the names that weren't hers.
Again, she would ask. And she'd wait for that answer. And again she'd think of all the things that had happened that she wished didn't happen to her.
