Chapter 160 - Rejecting VIP Treatment

He first explained to the others what had happened before telling them what his plan was. Then he closed his eyes again to help Lucifer snap out of the hypnotic state. Strand by strand, he removed the hypnosis. It was a lot more challenging from a distance so he took longer as a result. Soon, he had finished this exercise and then used his emotions to inform Lucifer to continue acting as if he were still hypnotized.

Then, Light opened his eyes and nodded towards the rest of them, "Let's go."

Light led the way with the others in tow. They charged towards the building in an aggressive and frantic way. The guards outside the door were so shocked that they didn't react in time. This was largely due to Light's ability to exacerbate their emotions. Taking that time, they burst into the room very loudly and ran towards the "half conscious" Lucifer.

Standing to surround him like protectors, they informed him of the situation, "Lucifer! These people had us trapped and imprisoned in a jail cell right after you left."

Lucifer suddenly "woke up" from his semi-conscious state and looked around in a "confused" manner before realizing that had happened.

He then slammed the table in an angry manner and demanded, "What is going on here?" His eyes were alert and blazing with killing intent, causing the leaders at the table to shrink back.

The guards from outside were running in, about to attack, only to be waved off by the base leader who smiled gently, "It's all a misunderstanding I'm sure. There's no need for a fight. I will need to check with the guards to determine how your friends got locked up, but you can rest assured we will punish the people in charge."

Light and the others internally rolled their eyes. He was clearly lying but no one corrected his lie.

Seeing that they didn't say anything, he continued, "Why don't we do this. You can stay here as a VIP guest for the night while we determine what happened and we can continue our discussions tomorrow."

Lucifer agreed and said, "Return us our RV and then show us to our room."

The base leader nodded pacifyingly before having a few attendants lead them out. The leaders remained in the room as they quietly watched Lucifer's group walking away. Once they were out of sight, the base leader's tone changed to a very cold one, asking, "How did they escape and why didn't the hypnosis work? Find me answers now."

Everyone in the room bowed in submission and got to work.

Lucifer and the others were taken to their RV. The first thing everyone did when they returned was to inspect the RV for any damage or missing items. Fortunately, the people at the base hadn't had enough time to go through the RV. Everyone inwardly heaved a sigh of relief, no one was concerned about losing gems, but they were incredibly fearful of having messed up the RV. Aida treated the RV like her own child, so if she heard that they almost lost it, she would be absolutely enraged. There was immediately a tacit agreement between everyone there to conceal this situation from Aida.

Light went to cook everyone a meal while Yukio went around and healed each person. Everyone else focused on recovering by absorbing gems. They had clearly underestimated the dangers of entering a new base, but didn't intend to continue doing so.

The lodging this base provided was luxurious, even to Light and the twins who came from a wealthy family. They were provided a room that had 2 tatami-floored double bedrooms, a tatami-floored living room, kitchen, 2 toilets, and a spacious bathroom with a private Japanese-style bathtub. The base truly went all out with treating them as VIP guests.

Light and the others were unmoved. Instead, they all rejected the VIP treatment and chose to stay in the RV that they treated as their home. Ultimately, it felt far more comfortable and safe to them than this luxurious room they were provided.

Everyone gathered for dinner and reviewed the day, nobody seemed to be in the mood to enjoy the food. Light was the first to begin as he explained the ambush and the cell that they were placed in. Everyone was surprised that no one from the base had come to attack them or get revenge yet. It could be seen earlier that the guards had no love for each other either.

Next, Ace shared his findings with everyone. He explained that things at the base weren't going as well as they seemed. While they had a nice and safe location to stay, there was a severe shortage of food and water, which has caused a general discontent across the base.

Lucifer began sharing his experience as well. After they returned to the RV, he had been meditating to recall all that occurred.

"It seems they are very keen on using me as a figurehead to lead this base to unify the people here," Lucifer hypothesized.

Rin spoke up in an exasperated tone at this time, "Ugh! Do they even have any intention of working with us to get into City M? If they don't, we should just go. I don't like this place."

Yukio followed up to say, "These people seem as bad as our relatives. Can we even trust them with our backs if they were to ally with us?"

"Yeah! They're bad but it's okay. With the Master around, even if they stab us in the back, we can stab them right back!" Ace exclaimed with excitement.

"Uh… have you even sent an update to Big Sis yet? She's going to get worried," reminded Yukio.

"Ahhhh Masterrr forgive meee!! Your servant is coming!" Ace screamed as he made a mad dash towards his laptop.

Everyone chuckled at the sight and the tense atmosphere lightened slightly.

Light, who had been deep in thought all this time, finally spoke up. "I have been reviewing all the people that we've met and I think I've found our solution."
