Jasmine Yale felt a stir in her chest, her throat full of sourness.
Her hand stroked Riceball's fur, and if she could, she would take him with her.
Unfortunately, she couldn't.
In the blend of moonlight and lamplight, she steeled her heart and stood up.
As soon as she did, Riceball bit at her shoes.
"Riceball, that's enough, be good, go home, I'm leaving. I'll come see you when I can, you must behave. Little Chale will come back for you..." Jasmine comforted him, "On days when Chaley doesn't come back, you play with Ali and don't fight."
Jasmine steeled her heart and stood up.
Parting always brings heartache.
Jasmine pushed Riceball away, turned her head, and left silently.
Riceball was unwilling to let her go, chasing after Jasmine and sometimes running in front of her, blocking her path.
Jasmine was quite helpless.
"Riceball, stay!" she said sternly, "Go home!"
