NARRATOR
The founders built the wall to keep us safe and they divided us into five groups, factions, to keep the peace. The smart ones, the ones who value knowledge and logic are in Erudite. They know everything. Amity farm the land. They're all about kindness and harmony, always happy.
Candor value honesty and order. They tell the truth, even when you wish they wouldn't. And then there's Dauntless. They're our protectors, our soldiers, our police. I always thought they were amazing.Brave, fearless and free. Some people think Dauntless are crazy, which they kind of are.
Me, I was apart of the Erudite faction. Not exactly the best fit for me. Not that I wasn't smart enough or anything. I mean my parents would hate me for leaving our faction well at least my father would. I pretty sure my father has always hated me so nothing new there.
Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to apart of Dauntless so . I'd tell my friends about it and they would laugh. We expect for one, Alexander, he was my friend since we were little. He wanted to go to Dauntless too. But when his parents found out they made him stop talking to me. His parents made me the bad guy and now he hates me. Maybe deep down he doesn't hate me and still wants to join Dauntless.
My parents always said I was different from other kids and I knew that. So I started to embrace that difference, ever since then I decided I was going to be Dauntless no matter what anyone said. Not my parents. Not my sister. Not even the test.
Speaking of the test, I finally made it to the door. (a/n: This is when it kind of goes to her perspective) I wonder if my sister took her test yet. I hope it wasn't to much for her, she always hated needles. She has always protected me so I guess it's my turn to protect her.
"Next" The woman says. I walked into the room and walk over to the seat. "I'm Tori, I'll be administrating your test" She says. "You'll be offered a series of choices to test your aptitude for each faction until you get one result" She added. "Okay" I say sitting down. She gave me a weird looking liquid. "What is this?" I asked. "Just drink it" She says. I drunk it and I immediately felt dizzy.
Everything went black, then I saw my sister and I as kids from a distance. We were playing by the river and then I fell in. My sister jump in to save me but I was just pulling her down. I ran to them and tried to save them. My sister was holding her hand out. I grabbed a branch and tried to pull her over to land. I soon as they got close to me the branch snapped. I helped on to a tree and reached for them.
I grabbed my sister hands and pulled her out but I wasn't there any more. I dived in to save myself but I just kept falling. I made it to the bottom but everything changed. I was in the woods with my old friend Alexander. It like we were about 12 or 13. We were sitting by a fire. He hates fire so much so I was holding on to him. "It's gonna be okay Alex I won't let you fall" I say to him.
"Are you sure?" He says walking over to the fire. "ALEX NO" I yelled as he tried to jumped into the fire. I pulled him away from the fire but the fire grew bigger until he was trapped in it. I remember it wasn't real and went in to pull him out.
I sat up gasping for air. I felt a tear roll down my eye. I quickly wiped it before standing up. "What was my result?" I asked Tori. "Look, I can't tell you much just tell your parents you got whichever one you want" She says. "What? Why?" I say. "Don't ask questions, let's just go out the back door" She says. "But what faction did I get?" I asked. "Okay look" She says whispering. "You got all of them" She says in a low voice. "What?! That's not possible" I say.
"Shh keep your voice down" She says. "It's extremely rare but not impossible" She says before pushing me out the door. I walked home extremely confused. I unlocked the door and Ashley was waiting for me.
"So, what did you get?" Ashley asked. "It's a secret, you'll have to wait until tomorrow" I say putting up a fake smile. "Okay then I won't tell you mine" She says. "Deal" I laughed walking to the kitchen. "Hi Val, how was it?" Mom asked. "It was good, I guess" I lied. "That's good" She smiled.
"Go wash up, dinner will be ready soon" Dad says. After dinner I went straight to my room. I tried to sleep but I couldn't. I kept tossing and turning, thinking about what happened during the test.
(a/n: I know Tris was the narrator for this but in this story she's not. The main character is and no she is not going to be replacing Tris's character but just the narrating. This is based off the movie and I know it's not that accurate but the movie is easier to summarize since it's basically a summary of the book. Thank you:)
