Chapter 11 - Doesn’t she remind you of someone?

4 days later,

"Sorry, there is no such person named 'Aria' with no last name. There isn't even a person named 'Aia' in that orphanage. There is no record of her anywhere." Angel told Noah with a frustrated sigh.

"That means you can't even find a way to contact the orphanage. They will just tell you the same crap." He added with confusion.

Noah flipped the pen in his hand while thinking about what he would do next. He glanced at Aria who was busy coloring and sitting in the rug. They were in his office and Aria had stuck to him like gum so it's not like he could get rid of her. She's still young and he didn't want to hurt her feelings by pushing her away. Aside from that he felt a strange sense of familiarity and protectiveness over her.

As if he needed to have her under his wing. It was a very strange feeling but since she doesn't have any parents he decided to keep her until he comes up with a better idea.

"Put her under my name." He ordered with no explanation.

This was making Angel super frustrated. "What do you mean to put her under your name? Aren't we going to send her back? Maybe, if we contact the organizer of the event back in Paris we can send her back there. I'm confused. What exactly are you planning?"Angel asked, scratching his hair with moreconfusion.

Noah glared at him. "You keep standing there like an idiot, did you perhaps leave your brain back in Paris? By that I mean I'm adopting her and taking her as my daughter." Noah 'enlightened' him.

"What?!" Angel yelled in shock. Aria looked up with a grin. "Daddy you are the best!" She shouted in excitement and she ran to his desk. Noah moved the wheel chair back so that she wouldn't crash with the chair and instead his legs.

Aria lifted her arms and climbed onto his lap. "Thank you!" She hugged him with happy tears.

Noah was stiff. He slowly patted her head, feeling weird with a child clinging onto him as if he were their parent.

"Oh my God." Angel muttured. 'Just what the hell goes into him everyday?' He wondered. "You can leave." Noah told him and Angel Who gladly walked out of the office because the scene in front of him was making his system malfunction.

"I came here as soon as you texted me. I will go talk to him!" Chris, Noah's cousin told Angel when they met at the door. He rushed inside and he too was shocked to see the back of Aria snuggling in Noah's arms as if it were some soft teddy bear.

"Noah you-" He closed the door behind him when Angel whispered an 'I know right.'

Angel rolled his eyes when the door was closed in his face. He shook his head and walked away.

"What is it?" Noah asked. "Are you really going to adopt a child?" Chris asked.

"Yes, is there a problem?" Noah turned his head to Aria when she pouted. "Don't listen to him." He told her thinking she was hurt by his cousin's words.

Aria smiled and nodded her head. She jumped from his lap and faced Chris. She waved her hand and grinned trying hard to show off her cute dimples.

'I better make a good impression so that he accepts my mommy as his sister-in-law!'

"Take a look. Doesn't she remind you of someone?" Noah asked.

"No way dude!" Chris crouched to Aria's size and he examined her features closely. "Bruh, it's like a mix of you and her." He mumbled subconsciously.

He gulped expecting Noah to be upset but to his surprise Noah just seemed lost in thought.

Chris took the opportunity to introduce himself to Aria. "I'll be your uncle Chris from now on!" He said cheerfully. Aria smiled. "Only if you promise to be nice to me! My mo-"

"I mean my friend always tells me I should only be friends with people who treat me nicely!" She corrected herself quickly. "Of course I'll be nice!" Chris reached out to pinch her cheek but Aria took a step back and cupped her face.

"Don't! I want to keep my wutess!" She humphed and ran back to Noah's side."Bad uncle Chris! You bully me!"

'Nevermind. As long as my new daddy accepts mommy everything will be fine!'

"Oop-" Chris closed his mouth feeling offended.

'First time a kid doesn't like me.'

"Daddy…" Aria teared up. Noah sent Chris a glare. Chris waved his hands in the air claiming his innocence.

"I have to work so you will have to go with him okay? I will see you in the afternoon." Noah told her.

For the past four days his schedule completely changed. Before he would skip breakfast but now he would have breakfast with her and bring her to work. Since it's summer break for all students she didn't have to go to school.

So, he would keep her by his side all morning and push all the morning meetings to the afternoon so that he can keep her by his side. At lunch time he would send her with Angel to his villa where the new nanny would take care of her.

He had sent Angel to take care of the adoption matters but since no information about her could be found he would just take her as his daughter. Now that Chris came back from England it would make it easier to look into Aria.

After he sent Aria off with Chris he also texted him to help Angel search for information about Aria.

When they were completely gone he started doing his work as usual.

While he worked he thought about what Chris said earlier. Yes, Aria indeed resembled both him and 'that' woman.

He had not thought about 'that' woman in a week. It was an accomplishment for him because these seven years it has been hard to not think about her.

Usually he isn't a fan of kids but seeing how Aria resembled 'that' woman and him, he couldn't help it.

"Our daughter would look like her wouldn't she?" He wondered out loud.

God, he still can't completely forget her. After going to so many hypnosis sessions to try and forget her nothing would work. He managed to forget small events but that's all.

For example the date and year they met, the day they married and other such moments in their life. He could only erase moments like that but the more he tried the more it would harm his health.

Now all he remembers are small fragments and the fact that she died. He doesn't even remember how, all he knows is that she's dead.

'If I would still remember she's dead wouldn't it be better if I forgot everything completely?'
