Chapter 18 - Reading the books

Next day I did woke up and set the fire blaze for the cooking, as I did so... I prepared and un wrapped the food to cook. "Ah some of them are already starting to smell weird" yeah, Lucky some of them last this long, It would normally starts to rot away if I didn't dry them off, I took the spoiled ones and bury them on the ground just outside before going back

Since I was inside the cave, I picked up the bag that I have, It was always with me yet I didn't even care to think about it. Its already tattered and I can see a few holes in it

It would be a problem later if this thing ripped off while I'm on work. I remembered the spider web from before, it wasnt as if its not that important, however the process is kinda complicated

Finishing the cooking and finally eating, I brought a stone with me and experimented a few bit after seating on the living room's table. Making a tiny finger length needle, I imagine having to make a pen continuously till you make it smaller. Thats exactly how it happen after a few trials, I analyzed the level of difficulty to be more of a precise work so I make more trial and error till I hit a sucessful one. You know actually making a needle itself is harder than putting the thread into the needle hole, Its so tiny yet it should be tough and would not bend or break more so as I wasnt using a metal. Next time I would need to check if I could get those spider threads to work on

I finally get a breather and decided to clean the cave for a bit, It was a weekend already if I'm not wrong, but not even once did I tried to ever clean the inside. Most of the appliances here were broken already, so I just gathered all of them into one spot than actually throwing them away, these appliances were not actually made of metal, and actually non of them were usable as they only hold things together, I cant put it above fire to cook. Honestly speaking, these stuff were made for traveling but not for staying in one place, its more like until you reached one place or staying on a place. There's a total of 5 clothes on the bag, 2 pair of pants and shirt and 3 one pieces, there are also a total of 3 books within here, a cooking book, a notebook, and Umm literature notebook? or more like pile of should be a literature book?, it has few detail with it about how much of a culture were on this world, never mentioned a place but it has a few notes in it about some plants and the likes as well

I got an interest on reading the literature book so I went back into the seat, it has been a week already yet I never met anyone, if things turned sour on this place, I had no one or even nowhere to go, as I read the contents of the literature I notice a few new details within it. I had a hunch that this world never had a proper progress within their science field yet as they had spent their effort on developing magic, that certainly is true as the I observed the notes regarding the state of towns and countries, soldiers hardly rely on armors and forts are more or less built from bricks and then enhanced by magic "If it was like this then it would most certainly that I wouldn't be able to see advanced guns on this world. That in itself would be nice as I wont be worrying about specialized sniper rifles and the likes that could kill anyone without sound and specially from far distance. However I cant be sure either about magic as the chance of a similar type of attack would be much more or less be possible", If it was my old world, things like carbon coated walls or not even the need of forts as mobile artillery and sniper assaults would most likely end the war

"Hmm, letting my imagination run and even relying on it, Certainly thats how magic works" I just cant seem to see a specific points for magic, this literature books have multiple pretexts about multiple things in certain places and some geographical notes on different kinds of terrains. Turning the page I read through the contents

"Adventurer's guilds" so it existed on this world, theres also seems to be both trading and magic guilds. This world is very huge at some point to even accommodate and run building branches and global channels, that much would require tremendous work force and income to regulate themselves. At best... by the notes written within these pages I could tell that theres a total of 3 countries on this world "Ahh its more like that old earth during the 'bc' days, where scientist believes that every continents were connected as one" it has some resemblance on the earth, aside from the fact that continents move because of the tectonic plates and here that content wasn't true yet. I could now tell that the only map I had here were most likely one of the continent within those 3 as it only shows one whole of a single continent, its also possible that this is a map of early ages but as the notes regarding how the war goes, it would most likely be only one of them, thing is that the information seems to end there as the contents weren't focused on it. Closing the book and the notebooks at my hand and quietly arrange them within the table right next to where I usually place the clothes, I fell into deep though

For the most part, I already had what would I need for daily life here. however theres also dangers that lies here that would probbably endanger my life in the future. Should I leave after I prepared what I needed?, Im already treating this place like my own house

"Yeah most probbably I was meant to stay here, but I am a different person inside, a human to be exact. On the tales dragons supposed to stay on their lairs or the likes but I don't feel anything like that as I was originally a human"

I laid my back and heaved a sigh, raised my right arm and conjure a fireball. I focuses on it and stared at it for a while. Staring at a fire while it stood at one spot simply blazing like a wave, somehow it calms me, even back then when there's some power shortages, I would most likely stare at a fire blazing on top of a candle

I remembered my lack of spells when I fought off the golem, and also that failed spell that immobilized me but luckily killed the golem, If that didn't happen I would most likely get stuck on the ground for a while, and most likely get attacked as I am too vulnerable. Firing that spell almost endangered me in a sense, if I was attacked by a different enemy, after all the chance of getting killed in a fight increases by the time you are vunerable

Putting my left hand on my chin while softly rubbing them like a certain detective, I scanned every nook and cranny of my head of what else type of attack should I do with magic. Like that last time, I managed to win by chance however as for what type of attacks I could do is still limited. "Even when your reserve was high, theres no point to it if you cant use them... was it?" but gladly I had a few knowledge of it as a former gamer

Lets see what I have in my past life... "Fire ball, Flame spear, Burst types, rain? ah those arrow rains and the likes... hmm, but those skills only valued their visual effects.. err... " unfortunately there are some that only rely on visuals, and I cant depicit what sort of element was used on some of them or how do you cast them. But luckily by the help of both the special effects and sound effects I can prettymuch visualize and get some ideas

***while writing***

Hmm about those arrow rains, I remember using them in games because of their AOE area of effect damage, but even so, that game's pretty messed up ain't it? I mean I got the idea from a dungeon exploration stuff game but rain? while inside a cave? how? Ive seen similar games with that skill too but they are on an open field, but yeah sometimes there's also a cave there, which ends up the same... after all any mmorpg games wouldn't miss out a content like dungeons and the likes. Poor cave ceilings and stalactites, the idea of luminous walls on those games are also too magical to happen on real life, I feel dejected as I need the night vision on my cave house... I feel like a mob here

***end***

Finishing writing off what I could think up, I made a list containing a few applicable skills for each element that I could think of

"With this much mana, I could probbably pull off most of these skills, I could even check and Improve them" plus this could also be a good way to see if I could make a new spell and how much mana do I have

Ending it after another sigh I stood up on the seat, and took a one piece as well as a set undergarments, before heading into the exit

*woossh* a chilling wind greeted me by the exit...
