Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Problem

Seriously, I did not expect that we have been working together, Lyana and I, for a couple of months until I got the invitation from Lyana that I was to be a witness at her wedding. And it was not a grand wedding as well, it was an intimate one in front of the priest and one of her husband's friends as a witness as well.

It was a very beautiful ceremony and I was smiling as Lyana was beaming with happiness in her eyes when they finally wedded. I cannot think of the time that I will be getting married as well and that my husband will be looking at me with the love and adoration that her husband was looking at her.

After the ceremony ended, we were walking out of the church. I was seeing that Lyana was holding onto her husband's arm and I was smiling for her right now.

"So, what's next?" Her husband asked.

"How about a honeymoon? I know Lyana needs one since she has been working hard for the Ancient Greece exhibition," I said as I was looking at Lyana. She was glaring at me as I was smiling at her. Then, a message came into my phone as I was looking at it right now.

"And when that exhibition will take place?" Her husband asked again as I turned to look at him. He had the same eyes and fair hair as Lyana's. I bet their children will be cute.

"Oh, it will be a grand opening in 2 days but it was not in France. It will be in Sicily, an island in Italy. And I was hoping that Lyana would take you there. Consider it as your honeymoon destination/work," I said before Lyana was nudging me and hissed at me.

"Lena!"

"What? I was trying to help," I said as I was looking at the phone. It was the director before I was excusing myself from the group and stated that I need to go to work now. I congratulated the couple before I was answering the phone.

"Hello?" I asked as I was getting inside my car before I put my handbag on the passenger seat and I was fastening the seatbelt.

"Lena, we have a problem," the director said as I was furrowing my eyebrows. As far as I am concerned, the museum was not having anything grand at this nearest time.

Unless…

"What is it? Is something wrong with the exhibition in Sicily?" I asked as I was crossing my fingers, hoping that it will not be that case. The director sighed and I know it was a bad sign now.

"It is,"

"What about?" I asked as I was putting on the Bluetooth headset so that I can drive while I was talking to my phone. I was heading toward my museum as well before I was listening to my director's statement.

"The High Society of Sicily did not approve of the gems. They say that it was not from their hometown, so they refused to display it. But the museum has put it out in the event brochure. It will be hard not to show it since the visitors are expecting it," she said as I was sighing before I was making a right.

"They did not specify that they wanted their jewels to be presented at the time. How should we know that? It will take a miracle for us to find a willing person to donate that much of gems for the exhibition," I said as I was turning to stop at a traffic light before the director was clearing her throat.

"That is why you will be flying to Sicily today, to work things out," she said before I was stopping my car as I pushed the brake, hard. I was looking at the old woman that was trying to cross before other cars were honking behind me. I was rolling my eyes before I was clearing my throat as the street was cleared again.

"Wait, you say that I will be flying to Sicily? Are you insane? I don't have time to pack and I have to book for the flight ticket and all that stuff—"

"Don't worry, Mr. Zeus has arranged it all out," the director said as I was arching my eyebrow at the name.

Mr. Zeus? Who the hell was that?!

"I'm sorry, did you say Mr. Zeus? And you trust this person to fly me out to the island?" I asked my director before she was beaming when she replied to me.

"Oh, it will be grand. He was the person that you need to meet and plead to him so that he will display his gem collection. Did you know that he was the heir to a wealthy gem empire? I can hardly believe it when he said that he will consider it if the curator of the event will come to him and plead," the director said as I was rolling my eyes.

I shivered when I have to think that I will plead to the man that was named after the Greek god. Were his parents insane to name after the myths? He could be like Zeus for all I know! A womanizer.

"So, will you do it?" The director asked me as I was looking at the museum that I have been working for the last 5 years. I think it's time for me to get out of here for a while.

Even if it's work vacation. At least I will be under the Mediterranean sea.

I sighed before I was rubbing my face with my hands. I am so going to regret my decision after this.

"Okay, I will go but do not think that I will be begging to this man. I will try to converse with him and make him believe that it will be for a good cause," I said as I got out of the car and I was walking toward the museum. I locked my car as I was putting the keys into my handbag before I was pushing the front door open.

"Great, I see you there in 2 days before the grand opening. Bonne chance!" My boss said as I was hanging up on her before I was looking around the museum.

"It will be okay, it will be fun. It's just like a vacation but with work," I said as I went to my cubicle before I was looking at the stack of papers that I will have to finish before I fly out to Sicily this evening. I sighed.

"It will be a long day after all," I said as I was pulling my chair out and I was sitting at my cubicle. I was looking at the piles as I was putting my handbag down and I took the first file as I was reading the front page and opened it up.

I was uncapping the pen that I used to write stuff and check stuff. I was sighing again as I was looking at the clock. It's 9 AM.

8 hours to go.

"You will be out of here tonight and tomorrow you will be on vacation. Yeah, you can do this. I know you can," I chanted to myself as I was busying my work until I was done for the day. But for the work vacation that I was looking forward to, it was not a vacation after all.

It was a nightmare if you asked me bluntly.
