After a two days of traveling I finally see a grand white castle in the distance surrounded by tall stone walls "Is that the capital?!"
Terram looks out and see's it "Ah there she is, welcome to the Capital City of Marxis, Belmoth." We approach the gate and a guard stops us you duck down into the carriage "What's wrong?"
"Oh it's nothing, I just don't trust the guards". You overhear them talking "Reason for visit?"
"Trade and transport"
"How many are with you?"
"Two in the back" He walks around and looks in at you, he looks at you suspiciously then at Terram.
"Ah! Sorry sir. LET THEM THROUGH" that was odd...
"Alright this is where you two get off, I've held up my end, now the rest" you hand him the other half of his payment.
"Thank you" he scoffs and rides off. As you enter the city you are automatically taken back by its grandeur, its like nothing you've ever seen, it was a colossal white castle with multiple spires and watchtowers each with a red roof a banner hanging off of it with a separate wall around the whole palace.
"Ever been to the Capital City before?"
"No, this is amazing!"
"Yeah it is, and we're going to the heart of it all" he points to the castle "That's where my master is" you both make your way through the crowd and end up at the main castle gates and one of the royal guards started talking "So Terram your back already?"
"Yep, thanks to our friend here" he gestures to me.
You've been getting a lot of suspicious looks lately and it seems he's no exception "Nice to meet you" you shake hands before he opens the door. You both walk in, the hall is marble with half pillars connected to the walls on both sides with doors every so often, he led me into one of the spare rooms,
"Your a fantastic lier, frankly I was impressed since its safe to talk here we should discuss things Mr. or should I say Andrew" you reached for you sword "Do you really think that's a good idea? You are in the middle of the palace in the Capital of Marxis, it's not gonna be as easy as escaping a village."
"What do you want?"
"Look, my master will probably require you to show him your face, do it, we will both keep your secret, to be honest I don't care what you did in Calmite but If you even think about doing something like that here, I promise you, you will die before you get the chance"
"I understand, there's a lot that happened that led to that but when did you find out my identity?"
"On the carriage while you were sleeping I took off your mask, If im gonna take someone into the palace im gonna have to need to know who you are, I've come to like you you know, don't screw that up, also here" he handed me another cobalt adventurer card, you looked at it and the name was just "Faceless Wanderer"
"What's this for?"
"So you can use it without broadcasting your identity to the guards, everyone knows who you are, "The kid who demolished an entire city with ease" your quite the legend!"
"But I can't do that!" he held up his hand
"Save it for the master." We walked out and he led me upstairs and to a set of double doors with two guards on each side "Terram, who is this?"
"A cobalt class Adventurer who helped me on the way back" One of them held out his hand,
"ID!" you handed him your new adventurer ID, he inspected it thoroughly before handing it back "Go on in" they pushed the doors open to reveal what looked like a library mixed with a forge.
"What is this place?"
"This is my Laboratory". You didn't notice here before but there was a female draconoid (humanoid dragon) in a mix of light armor and robes "Terram who is our guest?" he closed the doors.
"This would be Andrew, he helped me on my way back"
"Is that so? That doesn't sound like the great "city destroyer"."
You take off your mask "Terran told me you could keep a secret, can you?"
"I suppose, if its that important tell me"
"Well...." you tell her the whole story and what led up to the incident in Sindrie
"Well that's quite the story!"
Terram began "And just that a story! You really expect us to believe in these "Forgotten Lords" and possession?"
"Terram can I talk to you for a moment" she led him out of the room, "I believe him"
"Master why?!"
"Dominus contacted me not long ago telling me to help "He who walks on the brink" and from what he just said that description fits him perfectly"
"Dominus did?! But If that's true... No, especially if that's true we cant keep him here, what if that "Mephisto" guy takes over?"
"From what he said it only can happens when people he's close to are killed in front of him, and if he can somehow control those legendary flames, he'll become a god. Our country will be invincible"
"A god of death..."
"Who will be indebted to us. Im not asking your approval, im telling you from now on your both my apprentices."
"First let's see how well he can learn magic" They come back into the room "Now then Andrew, you said you wanted to learn magic right?"
"Yes ma'am"
"Allow me to introduce myself properly, I am the royal advisor and magician Clavis, pleasure to meet you"
"And you."
"In order to test your magical affinity im going to have you place your hands on this crystal, if it glows a color you have an affinity for the corresponding element, now set both hands on each side of it and try to imagine pushing your essence into that crystal" she set a very crude circle crystal ball on the table, you place your hands on it close your eyes and focus for about 10 seconds before, "Unbelievable..." you hear Clavis say, you open your eyes and see a mix of red and a blackish purple in what looks like a war, colliding trying to overtake each other, slowly getting brighter and brighter before the crystal shattered.
