Chapter 41 - ch 6 ( immortal) the academy

today I will be going to the wind academy. the wind academy was a place that was even more well guarded than the other academies.

the wind family is pretty close by after all.

well, they will allow me to enter. after all, my name still holds some weight. I am the south's general commander after all. I don't know what to do about that. right now we are not at war so it is fine, but if it comes to it I will have to lead the southern armies. the only problem will be the dragon's outpost, a place that is truly ever have been led by the three old men. even when they were In the City of madness, their commands still held some degree of power. you can say they never truly left the outpost. other than that, the southern armies are not really that powerful. the outpost had been placed in that place for exactly that reason. the south is the safest possible region we have. the forest has its beasts and there are the totems in that place, but the beasts are dumb and the totems are more busy killing each other. with the outpost present and the old men there, the southern district is at its safest. Such places have a very weak army. still, it is an army and it is going to be a pain in the ass to deal with that. I will also need to go to serpents outpost. it was the first outpost to appear, a place meant to test the idea of the outpost, a place in the forests where they could extract the valuable resources from the beasts there. their bones are made into weapons, flesh into medicines, fur into uniforms.

once serpents outpost proved profitable, it was abandoned to a more sophisticated and well-planned dragons outpost. right now it is lying in ruins, completely neglected. I don't know why the fifth emperor told me to go there but, he can be trusted. that is why I will be going there. maybe there is something there that I can use. that place always had a weird vibe.

I don't know why the serpents outpost was completely abandoned. a completely functional base was abandoned, during a time when the empire had just left a serious economic crisis, a waste of money that is uncharacteristic of the fifth emperor.

the south is more safer compared to the north district. the north borders with our most hated enemies after all.

I don't know what happen but I will need to see what needs to be done concerning that matter. for now I am going to the wind academy. the place is hidden by illusions from common mortals. they only see a large open field, barren so that they don't get too ambitious. this is a rural zone, still heavily dependent on agriculture. I quickly appear at the spot I need to be In.

it is a weak point in the magic walls that surround this place. as for How I know it exists, is mainly because I am the one that made it. the wind academy has faced my attacks quite a number of times. its duty was given to me after all, once upon a time.

me(in a quiet voice, almost unhearable ) - chancellor, come out right now. I will destroy this part of your formation if you don't come out right now. then you can have fun explaining why that formation has been destroyed.

chancellor Stephen - who are you and how are you related to the immortal.

(that man can hear everything that goes on in his territory. you can say he is the third emperor of this area.)

me - well, I am hurt, you can't even recognize me. well, do you remember the time that we stole the fifth emperor's wine? you ended up getting caught by the emperor and you got punished for an entire week in his prison.

chancellor wind - okay, okay, no need to remind me of that time. come on in, then.

well, the air in front of me shimmered revealing rows of buildings. most of the buildings are floating in the air, other than a few specific buildings. the wind academy is the place that I am most familiar with, after all, I helped Stephen in building this place up from the beginning. that guy is not very good at building things.

sneaking through the buildings(there were a couple of students, who are really not alert ), I quickly make my way to the chancellor's house, a smallish building lost in the large buildings that surround it.

entering it, I see the chancellor, who has not aged too much compared to his age. he looks like a very old man, but he is as old as me so I can't really complain about it. well, I of all people should not complain about aging.

chancellor Stephen - have you shifted to another body again, immortal. even you will die with how destructively you are living.

me - I can't help it, I am a man stuck in bad situations. by the way that reminds me, do you know what happen in the city of madness.

chancellor Stephen - I have heard a few rumours and nothing of what I have heard are any good. you seem to have created a complete mess in that area.

me - well, that is true. it is not anything good, if anything, it is the worst-case scenario. a god is forming in the city of madness.

chancellor Stephen - what mess have you created this time? how did you even create a god?

me - well, I have my secrets. now, the more important thing is that the god has been contained. that god should not be able to escape.

chancellor Stephen - wait a second, other than us only the nature alliance can do those kinds of things.

me - yeah, let's just say I owe them a lot, but I managed to use them to make a god sealing wall.

chancellor Stephen - so why are you so worried, the god sealing wall is made to seal the old gods. you think a puny human like you can create a god at the level of old gods.

(a little bit of details about the god sealing wall. it was actually a defensive measure against the gods. the god mana will dissipate the instant that it touches the wall. that is why it is used both as a defence against the gods and a method to seal them.)

me - I know that, but I can't rest easy until that area is more guarded. the wall might interest you quite a bit. after all you have been trying to replicate that magic for a very long time.

chancellor Stephen - very well I will help you. the still troop will be going there then. the wind obsessed freaks are not very aggressive nowadays.

(the still troop is the primary defensive guard of the academy. they are meant to be the opposite of the wind family, more accurately the swift blade troop of the wind family. the folks are wind academy are always such a dramatic bunch.)

me - well, enough about business, chancellor it has been quite the time before I have seen you, so how is it going?

chancellor Stephen - well, life has been pretty peaceful. I think it was a good decision to become the chancellor. I can stay away from the fires of war and protect the students of the place. some of these brats are quite powerful already. they will become somebody in the future, maybe even be better than us.

me - I never did have your luck. well, no use complaining about my life. I am pretty sure you should be knowing what is going on.

chancellor Stephen - well, I am surprised that this place has not been caught up in this war. you coming here means that these kids are going to be caught up in this war. how in the hell did you convince the emperors to lead the southern district. after the north, it is the most important district.

me -the southern district has always been a pain in the ass. the old men are the true rulers in that place. I am more like a puppet they just need to give lip service to. well, even I don't like it but it does not bode well that the civil war is happening now. I have to do something to stop it. I am contract bound to deal with it. you know what kind of contract I am talking about. as for how I managed to convince the emperors to become a general commander, you tell me. those guys never really made sense, as always.

chancellor Stephen - well, you are the monster this time, are you? well, a sneaky bastard like you is the perfect type of monster. sneaking about and killing people, a perfect job for you.

me - well, I can't really tell it you. make your theories. you know how these contracts work. well, I personally don't like to deal with all of these messes. our conversation is private right now, isn't it?

chancellor Stephen -yes, not even the emperors hold power in this place. well, you can speak your mind here.

me - the emperors wants me to kill the crowns of each of the academies. you can imagine the reason as to why that is so. we have seen civil war like this before, though never to this extreme. personally, I have an alternative that is going to be many times harder to execute, but you have to remember that the lives of your students are more important than your pride.

chancellor Stephen - what do you want to do?

me - I want to kidnap the five crowns and hide them in a safe place. better than killing them at the very least. well, at least that what it will look like from the outside. with your permission, your crown will be safely taken to. a safe place.

chancellor Stephen - well, I am your friend, but first and foremost I am the chancellor of this academy. I can't have a person come to me and declare to me that he is kidnapping my students. my students are not that weak. you were never a very powerful one, immortal, especially nowadays.

me - but, that is the best course of action. I am willing to negotiate with you. others will take my place if I fail. they will be more ruthless and as you pointed out more powerful than me.

chancellor Stephen - don't worry, my academy is not that weak. I can handle anything that the nobles throws at me, these kids are not going to war, especially this stupid civil war. now leave and don't show your face here again, servant of the nobles.

me (getting annoyed ) - listen to me, Stephen. the emperors want me to be the monster. I have already risked everything by even telling this much to you. the emperors don't care if a couple of students die, if it means that this civil war stops. this war has them rattled.

Stephen(suddenly taking a more authoritative position) - calm down immortal. I know the stories that you weave. I won't be trusting anything you say. you won't be going anywhere near my students. now leave before I force you.

me - listen to me, Stephen. the emperors will unite the empire and you know how they behave. you have seen previous wars and this war has been different from the start,

Stephen - leave, dog of the nobles.

(and before I know it, I am in the air, flying towards the barrier of this place. at the very least I am not hitting the buildings or that could have been fatal for me, given how I am right now. that reminds me, maybe I should stock up on a few medicines. this could have been quite deadly.)
