every book has its theme that it follows. this is something that is written in the book. every book has its goal. the goal of my book is to make me a bloody mage.
each page of the book contains a process that is necessary to be a bloody mage. each step has its purpose. the first-page armour page, has given me the very basics of blood energy. the way to manipulate blood energy and basic stuff. this is kind of like teaching a person how to breathe before giving him a supply of air.
the second page gives me the ability to produce my own way of producing blood energy. the third page gives me the ability to use it. even before, I had a pretty solid idea on the third page. if it weren't for my high-quality armour absorbing life force, I could have achieved some mastery in the spells of the third page long ago.
In the last two weeks, I have been attacking the snakes continuously to gather their life force and convert it to my own blood mana. don't worry it was nothing exciting. I hid in ambush and struck them from the back (though they have no backs to speak of. )
the spell I had attempted on myself is the bloody armor spell. a simple way of explaining it is, think of life force as the people and blood mana as a train. the people can enter into the train and reach the destination which is me.
life force is an amazing thing. a concentrated burst of life force will heal in a very ridiculous manner, resembling regeneration and it seems a sufficient amount of it can even extend my life.
anyway, I wanted to record all this, I found out a pretty shocking thing from phantom snow. the thing was, I had described to him about my memory during the entire thing about the fleeing snake and it seems this is a very common magic among humans.
he also warned me too not record any sensitive matter in these logs, because a skilled mental mage or ability user holds the capability to see these logs.
that is the main reason that I have not created any logs for the last few days. it's kind of hard not to hold back certain parts of the log when I am so used to dumping everything on my logs.
during all this deep thought, I made my way from the city to the gate. the path there is relatively empty.
the snakes do not dare to seem very intent on coming to deep into the city. there is a very specific line that they do not want to cross. I think it has something to do with the god mana corrupting the hell out of them.
my plan is to fight at this very border. normally I tend to be very sneaky when it comes to attacking the enemy. now, today I am going to do a head-on strike.
a patrol should be approaching any second now. since my main weapon has been fused with my body, I am using a magical device or a pair of them to be precise.
the mental swords is their name. they hold the ability to be manipulated by my mind.
while this ability might not seem useful, it is because you have not fought to put your life on the line.
they are finally here, they have yet to notice me as I jump right in between of them. I throw my sword at two of the snakes head as I head towards the third snake who has yet to react. the snakes here are really dumb. in the forest, the pace of our fight is considered slow. they won't survive in the forest. it could be just that I have become stronger too.
anyway, I catch the snake forcefully coagulating its blood, solidifying it to make a decent staff.
a sword is a very nice weapon, but when fighting against many people, a staff is more useful. the fourth and fifth snake seems to have finally begun to react as one of them is jumping towards me, while the other slips behind me to lunge at me from behind.
a pincer attack, if you will. I twirl my staff in such a way that both the snakes ( who are in mid-air attempting a bullet. ) get hit on their head and they are flung away.
one of the snakes doesn't get up while the other also seems to have suffered some damage. I control the sword to move toward the snake which was thrashing about, kind of like the way a man would if he was hit in his head by a rock.
solidified blood is actually very sturdy. the snakes, in general, do not have a strong defense too.
in my life vision, I can see that the enemy is gathering, In quite the numbers. right now even with my powerup in can't face the hundreds of snakes of this place. right now I am just trying to attract the big boss.
if I prove I have a certain level of strength. they will find it cheaper to make their strongest member ( the one controlling them all ) fight and kill me than wasting massive parts of the army in dealing with me.
that is the reason I am attacking directly. it gives me a sense of strength, that is not their before. you will always fear an enemy that is bold enough to come into your ground and attack you.
the enemy is already reaching to be about twenty and another four to five were quite distant, defeating them gives me the push I need to make the big boss come out.
fearlessly I jump into the enemies fray.
fighting against many people, the first thing you need is speed. if your many times faster than your opponents, then you can easily survive against a large amount of them.
I am significantly faster than my opponents, but the number I am facing is too much. the staff really is a more useful weapon in this case.
the snakes are surrounding me, in a very tight circle. my sweeping attacks from the staff, do manage to stop most of them. any snake that raises its head gets hit by my staff and with a force that makes them fly away. but they recover and then rise again to fight. I can't hit them on a weak spot.
the staff is barely holding up, the solidified blood vessel cracking in many places. I am using the blood in my armour to forcefully repair those cracks.
fighting a group of enemies is always hard. the snakes have two ways of attacking. one is to bite you, which is kind of easy to dodge. but the second way is they wrap themselves around you. it is almost impossible to escape once you are in their coils.
in these twenty, some of the snakes are about as large as my arm, the others are about as large as me. the larger ones are easy to fight, but the smaller ones are the ones that trouble me.
it is very hard to keep track of them in this very chaotic fighting. quite a few times, when the other snakes are keeping me busy, they end up sneaking next to me, trying to climb onto my leg or my staff.
once, one of the snake was actually crazy enough to face my swing in such a way that it managed to bite into my staff midswing. if the snake had managed to coil around my staff and then squeeze, my staff would have shattered.
my luck is that I managed to forcefully command one of the mental sword to cut off its head.
if miss mist was here, she would be saying something along the lines of ' you have such a nice training opportunity. don't you dare you disappoint me.'
(after quite a while )
finally, these twenty snakes have been eliminated.
it is the most intense battle I have ever had in my life.
the snakes are tricky opponents, especially in groups. since the enemy leader did not send any soldiers, I think that he has realized the futility.he has even called back the other five, that we're observing the situation. I did not even need to use my ace (my armor, I was mainly dodging in the fight before ).
the fact that he has not appeared means that he has conceded this territory or he is confident that I will leave so he does not need to make any real moves. no king will ever allow a usurper to remain in his territory. if it is the former, well our problem is solved, as for the latter, I will need to go deeper in to scare the enemy or to test his patience and just keep staying in this place. the former is something I don't want to do. the only reason I dared to fight against twenty of them was that I had an escape route.
well, I won't have one if I go deeper. right now, I am just sitting among the twenty corpses slowly absorbing their life force.
that was another ability of my spells, to automatically absorb the life force in surrounding regions to my body.
as useful ability when my body is so badly damaged. I had gone over my limits to fight those twenty snakes. right now my muscles are aching as if somebody has put them on fire. I have been hit in at least ten different places. those snakes might look weak but they have some muscles. this new armour of mine has really weaker defences too.
the staff is a very defensive weapon, good at making sure enemies don't attack. in the end, it is the mental swords that saved me.
the fact that they can be controlled and be shot towards the enemy is very useful.
the enemy is not expecting such an attack, especially snakes that are clearly are very dumb. only their overlord can do something about and even in a mental bond, there are a few seconds before the overload can send his orders.
I just sat there for some time, I do need to heal my wounds. if I am attacked en route to the city, especially by a being of my level, my fate is decided.
I did not need to wait for long before I can see a massive snake in my life vision.
normally the largest snakes I have seen are about as large and long as me(if they were to be placed vertically next to me )
this one is just a bit smaller than the giant I met. though this is many times more terrifying.
right now I am terrified, but I will have to face off against it. running now would just expose my back to the enemy.
the thing about snakes I feel is that they are much better at fighting beings that are larger than them.
their most powerful way of attacking, their coiling against the foe, and the crushing the opponent is useless against smaller foes.
but a snake has many ways of attacking, from tail whips to poison spray, so make no mistake that this will be a very tough fight.
by this time the enemy has already come pretty close. It also has entered my range of the mental sword. I am not a polite guy, to allow my enemy to make a move.
so I throw the swords and enter the fray.
