Chapter 18 - ch 10 ( immortal ) coronation part 2

gods are powerful. they might be volatile, arrogant, and dangerous, but they were powerful.

anything in this world could become a god. a man, a throne, or even a quill.

nobody understood how one became a god or how it even worked. all I really understand about godhood is this. it feeds on the belief of people.

I find it almost poetic. that the weak masses can attack their strong overlords just by imagining them as they wanted them to be.the process of becoming a god was something like this. first, you needed at least an empires worth of living beings .then you need to make all of them create an image of what you want to make a god. you could make it whatever you wanted. a divine weapon, a just leader, a bloodthirsty warmonger. well the list goes on.

if the people manage to create this image in their mind, somehow the collective thoughts of millions of people will begin to affect whoever is the one being imagined, changing him or it into whatever the people believed him or it to be.

the process of becoming a god is nearly impossible to stop.

it Actually boosted a persons power, often making them very powerful. but along with it came the costs. it caused a person to have many personalities, often reaching to hundreds of personalities. not only that, but other stuff like your body dispersing into the world.

the council of kings, the place that I had just released into the world, was a failed attempt by the eldest to create a safe way to achieve godhood. the council of kings was the collection of godhood of hundreds of thousands of god cores related to kings. I don't even know if our lands have as many kingdoms as there are thrones on the council.

god cores were what made normal mortal material into a god. right now with our present level of knowledge, we know that they exist and have a pretty basic knowledge of how they operated. but we still can't remove the god core of a god from the god's body.

somehow the eldest managed it and created the council of kings. the thrones of the council were the god cores created by kings that existed during the time that the eldest held power.

well it looks like someone has entered my mind.

I was presently in my mind. it was a black void, but with a bit of focus I can make it any scenery I want. as I focused a bit my surroundings changed into a stone room.

me - fifth elder, I didn't expect the third emperor to send you. he knows that you favour me. what happened?

fifth Emperor - kid, why do you have to keep creating so much chaos all the time. what do you want to do? releasing so many god cores onto the empire, on top of that flaunting the fact that you have a book of the eldest. don't tell me it's for that stupid academy of yours. the emperor simply won't allow you to make such a thing. it is a direct attack on the authority of the throne.

me - my academy is the path for the future, emperor. even you know the rage that exists in the people.

fifth emperor- whatever, you're so called academy will not be helpful if you plunge the entire empire into a bloody war of hungry gods.

me - the god cores are already destabilising. you know that they need a constant supply of belief to maintain their power. they have starved for a long time. most of them will disperse before reaching the ground, elder.

fifth elder - then why would you need so much god mana. you want to create a nether realm, don't you?

me - yes elder. the belief energy from the god cores should be enough to create a nether realm or at least lay the foundation.

fifth elder - you were supposed to be emperor kid, for this stupid dream of yours, you gave up on being an emperor. no matter, but I have to warn you, the emperor is losing control. a repeat of the bloody banquet may happen again if you keep going on this stupid path.

me - I know elder, the present emperor might not know of it, but you who has seen the damage your policies have done. you should at least know why this Academy of mine will help.

fifth emperor - did you really have to leave the throne to do it. without you the throne has gone into the hands of the worst possible candidate. the emperor is a paranoid asshole and he holds the power to crush every single foe. even the present civil war is going in a crazy manner. this kind of cruelty, I haven't seen since the time of the blood emperor. the prince faction is barely holding on. it is most likely that the prince faction will fall and I mean that in a literal sense. most of those young one's are going to die.

me - I know elder, but do you think that I would have done any better. those days I barely could keep it in control, even now I never dare to go all out. I would have been a much worse choice for the emperor. at least he does not have bloodlust like me.

fifth emperor - I know that you won't listen to me, but don't do anything that will weaken the empire, we have tough times in front of us.

saying so he disappeared as quickly as he came.

I have to be honest, I don't want to talk about the academy. it is a dark spot in my history. the black Phoenix Academy did not exist in this world and would not exist for a very long time. it is my goal, you see to create An academy with that name. academies held one of the most important position in any empire. each empire had at most five academies.

these held a very important position for the empire. after all, it was the only way that the inheritance of powers happened, at least for the commoners. the nobles had their own ways.

the academies had been established by the fifth emperor. this was meant to be the only way to ensure that the talented commoners would not suffer. after all, most techniques we're held by the nobles. in this matter the throne was also helpless. the nobles still held a lot of power, combined it was actually greater than the throne.

the throne held a delicate balance with nobles. the nobles would not allow the throne to strengthen themselves with the commoners. the throne would not allow them to unite.

the fifth emperor's academies were the perfect example of this silent war we are having. the nobles we're trying to interfere in the academies, the throne was trying to protect their roots. the academies became the battlefield for the two factions. this civil war has been going on for a very long time, slowly but steadily crippling the foundation of our empire

the number of the army soldiers that go missing vastly outnumber the one that dies due to external factors.

anyway, these all are matters for the future, for now, I have to hold on to the city of madness, which was going to become many times harder.

right now my body was changing.this was the entire reason that I took the risk of challenging the god of darkness, pissing off the ex emperors and writing a contract.

it was for a specific god core that existed in the council.

it was called the throne of thousand lives. the unique thing was that it was not a god core created from a king, but a mage tower. a very popular mage tower at that. so popular that a god was created of it.

with the proper strengthening, I can slowly but steadily recreate it and who knows, bring it to its former glory. the only problem with all of this was one thing.

from now on I can't move from my throne, because after absorbing the god core it will become somewhat similar to the original throne of thousand lives. the owner of the throne would end up becoming a part of it. basically, I cannot leave the throne and if I did the throne would exact its price, which I was sure would be very heavy.

to be honest I really did not know what to expect. The god core had already hit me. Its flames were already burning me, imprinting with me and absorbing the mana from my surroundings like crazy.

the energy contained in the god core was similar to mana, but a step above it. some considered it to be some kind of a specialized mana. thankfully it was similar to the mana and could be used to substitute it.

the god mana was the second reason that I shattered the council. I would be needing a lot of mana in the future. it would at least help me reduce the demand of energy I was going to have soon. the rune I created trapped most of the god mana existing there and redirecting it to the throne of thousand lives. I estimate at least a thousand units of mana could be acquired.

but for what I wanted to do I needed at least twenty thousand units. ( I will tell later. )

another sad thing was that the book would also become useless. it is one of the few materials that could take in god cores of other things. it was the entire basis of my plan. after all every single scrap of knowledge about the council and mechanism came from the book. the plan itself also was not mine exactly, one of the previous owners of the book had noted it down, including the rune and many other things. I just modified it to my own ends.

he must have never succeeded or I would not be getting this glorious gift. I don't know who he is but I should light a ceremonial fire for him, someday.

finally I began to stop changing. you see that much massive amount of god mana along with the god core, the first thing I was doing was absorb it and then transport it into the book.

within the few seconds that the core passed through me, my body had grown anomalies everywhere. you see, god mana is a very personal force. every god core had its own god mana. when that mana is exposed to the world, that mana tries to change the world around it. an example of this would be. for example, the god core of a king was exposed to the world, everybody within a certain radius of it would begin to transform into the god, at least undergoing some kind of a personality change.

I had absorbed the potent mana of so many gods, that mana was trying to physically transform me into each and every one of these gods.

the end result we're protrusions all over my body. that was with my regenerative powers. any more and I would have become a crazy goop of flesh.

the book was capable of storing the mana, whereas the god core will leave the book into the throne below me.

finally, my work here is done and I could relax somewhat. after I could do nothing until the throne absorbed the core.

( Meanwhile, somewhere deep in the forest. in a deep pit made in the ground. inside the pit was a magical rune that was gathering magical energy from my surroundings at a furious rate. I will acquire this memory in a few days. As for who he is, you will have to wait. )

my master was near, the portal is soon going to be strong enough to bear him. finally I get to lead his armies into the capital. to burn it into the ground, to finally lay my poor son's soul to rest voice

master - open the portal, my black knight.

at his command, I took a massive stick. it was the control flag for this rune. with this I could open a small sized portal in to my masters nether realm.

the runes began to release every bit of energy and began to gather in one spot. finally all that mana began to create a hole in space. all that energy in one place created the illusion of a miniature sun.

finally the brightness disappeared, replaced by the darkness of night. while I could not see it I knew that there was a small portal, barely the size of a finger.

the master should be coming over here any second now. finally in front of me the portal opened.
