Chapter 9 - ch 5 the great god

I was being hunted by something. I could not tell it clearly before but I can tell it now. the last two months since my last log has been so annoying. the date wise log of mine ,. I left it long ago, now I just record the dates and only record stuff which is truly interesting. it was getting annoying recording ' hunted down two dragon wolves, four-night serpents and a really arrogant phantom wolf '

the signs were not very clear at first. originally it was exactly how the forest was meant to be, a place where everything is trying to kill everything.

I don't know what was hunting me it was a powerful being. in this forest I have seen it many times. whenever those super powerful beasts picked a prey, every other species will avoid the prey like a plague. simply put, one day you decide to play, but some other kid who is so much weaker than you takes away your ball. naturally if you were the violent kind, you would beat up the kid and then take away the ball wouldn't you, and believe me these beasts are as violent as it gets.

everything was fine until last month, I was fighting as I usually did . the forest was never a static place. every day was a fight for survival. I have killed all thoughts of hunting down a clan. that kind of arrogance would really not help me live in this place.

I had that kind of arrogance when the real forest was not revealed to me. this was a place with no rules and animals that had no inclination to follow it also.

this place was about being the oriole and if you had the misfortune of being the cicada or the mantis, let's just say the forest is full of Orioles.

the only positive note about all this was that my power has grown tremendously, I can create blood weapons now. the blood weapons were the beginning form of a totem they could absorb the blood of living beings.

as my control over blood weapons grows, you can slowly use it to make a totem.

each person can only make one blood weapon, though he can make many totems. there are other ways to make totems, but those are not something I could do right now.

the blood weapon was a very important step in my development. simply put it was a necessary tool that would allow me to create blood energy.

right now, I was drawing blood energy from the book itself . while I could feel that there was an immense almost ocean-like amount of blood energy in the book, I could feel an rejection from the blood energy. like it did not belong to me. it made using blood energy much harder.

my blood weapon was a sword, kind of like the one that the old western knights have

I have to quit rambling like this, I could go and on about a lot of stuff like my, plans for the future, but I have, to get to the matter at hand, I really was being chased by something . it began a month ago, I think.

first for a week or so I kept getting attacked. this was way more than normal. it was almost like somebody was pushing them to attack me. then for the remaining period of time, the attacks on me were continuously decreasing.

there could only be two possibilities. one, I had become so strong that all animals feared to attack me or something so powerful was chasing me that all other animals gave me a wide berth.

the latter was more likely because after all, I might be more powerful than before but, I was in no way the strongest.

as far I could sense nothing was chasing after, but sometimes I get this feeling like something is looking at me. that feeling really unsettled me.

as for why I was recording this now. right now I am getting the feeling that something is looking at me constantly. so whatever it was, it was somewhere around here and while I could see no hulking lifeforce around me, but somehow that scared me more.

my hand was on my sword constantly. right now I was sitting in the forest waiting for whatever it has come after me.

if I was going to frantically run right now, the enemy would chase after me. there was no reason for me to trigger the mystery beasts hunting instinct.

I would have to fight it head-on and during that fight when I had the chance, run for my life.

I might have to enter a green zone or an orange zone to live, if the beast was particularly strong.

those places are scary . in the colourless zone, I was decently up the ladder among the lone wolves but in the green region I was strictly the bottom . as for the yellow region I created the new bottom over there. any beast in that place will be able to kill me.

SWING...

my sword cuts through the air striking a pair of leaves. the leaves are cut to pieces. I must say I am getting paranoid nowad...

THUMP

I fell roughly on the ground as a dark green blade fell on the position that I was standing in. the blade was connected some kind of a man in green armour . to be honest, I would have gone and hugged him if it wasn't for the fact that he had just killed me. that's just how excited to meet another of my kind after so long.

I wasn't sitting idly. instinctively my sword flashed through the air, striking the opposite party at the throat. I felt no resistance as my sword pass cleanly through his neck. there was no blood or anything of that kind.

finally I opened my life force vision, looking at the being in front of me. this was not the life force of animals, this was a tree somehow, though it had much less life force than a normal tree. so now this world had magical trees that took on the appearance of armor. if it had been two months ago, I would have lost my mind but now I had begun to get used to the surprises that the world gave me.

the plant guy lay in front of me. I poke him with my sword, hoping to see a reaction, but my sword passes through his armor, revealing nothing. the only thing that was there was empty space.

again I felt a spark of danger as my sword moved to cut again, passing through empty air and a bunch of leaves. this time I miss one and to my surprise, after the leaf falls on the ground, it sinks as if the ground I'd some kind of a liquid . not soon after, the ground where the leaf had begun to rise to reveal a green blade.

instantly I plunge my sword into the ground, I don't know what it is but I am not taking any risks. curiosity kills the cat and things that arouse curiosity often kill.

that is of no use as I open my life force sense

.to discover that at least three similar life forces had risen from the ground and more were brewing under the ground but it seems

I don't know if this is an ability or what but man is it cool.

the three armors are already moving. like hell am I going to give them the initiative. so I jump towards the nearest one. the three of them were surrounding me. as for me I take out a knife that I normally keep hidden among the few supplies I hold . by the time I complete this the first armour has already reached me. it swings it's blade, as I raise my sword to block it. my other hand is not as busy as the knife plunges into the throat. it doesn't phase it as it strikes my knife arms. I jump to the side dodging that strike, leave my knife in its throat.

I lost my golden opportunity, as the second armour had reached . they both strike at the same time, I block one with my sword and the other harmlessly clangs on my armour, leaving a white mark on top of it. jumping backward, I suddenly throw my sword forward. it pierces the armors head, as I charge towards the one who had a knife in my throat. I grasped the knife while dodging an attack from the enemy sword, removing it with practiced ease and plunging it in his head . this armor also collapses as it falls down. it looks like the head is their weakness.

quickly removing my own sword and one of the blades with the armor. an additional weapon is always useful. anyways while I dealt with the two of them, another four or five had appeared in the forest. they were grouping up. naturally I could not let them do that, if I wanted to live, so I charge at them.

three had already gathered, and another who was charging towards me, suicidal, aren't you.

after a quick strike, my sword passed through his head, quickly disabling him.

then I charge towards the other three, who were quickly ready for me. they were in a triangle formation, striking one would mean that I would face attacks from the other two .while there was no reason for me to worry with their weak attacks, no point in damaging the armor when I can avoid it. thankfully I have experience dealing with this type of formation. there is a reason that I always keep a second weapon with me.

I threw the blade I took towards one of the armor. not really seeing if the blade hit its target I jump towards one of the armour and cut off its heads. that leaves me with only two enemies to deal with. within a few instants, the other two lay on the ground with heads cut in two.

I had no time to relax, the number of my enemy was just increasing . while they were weak individually, there were too many of them and more were popping out of the ground.

( after half an hour )

the spawning had finally stopped. I lost count of the number of armor I killed after twenty-seven. they are truly unending. my armor was cracked in many places and on the verge of breaking apart for the first time. their attacks were but when the same attack repeated a hundred times, naturally the damage would pile up . this reminded me of the first time I entered this world, then I had been surrounded by an entire fleet of corpses. who knows maybe that was caused by the previous owner of the book and the armor.

I am exhausted, my sword is cracked in many places and I don't even bother to repair my sword with blood. I don't who or what attacked me but I am sure of this, this was not the last I would see of my enemy.

I could tell, the final boss had yet to come, but he would be here soon. it's this pressure like somebody was behind chasing me. but the moment I attune my senses to discover who is it, the pressure vanishes, though you could feel it in the back of your head.

the closest thing that can compare to this feeling, is the feeling of being chased by a ghost or you feel at least that you being chased by ghosts.

I picked a sword from one of the fallen, trying to calm down. this place was not meant for fear. fear would only cloud my judgment and that meant a defeat with no possibility of escape.

I had to get ready, it was here. I don't know what it is, but it gave me a sensation as if everything around me was trying to kill me.

voice - YOU DARE TO CHALLENGE ME, MORTAL.

and I could feel myself losing all control of my limbs as I fall to the ground.
