I Can Read Mind?

"Mom, I'm going out for a while. You could eat first." A shoulder-length chestnut-haired woman yelled as she opened the door and was about to go out.

"Okay. Please, don't stay late outside. It's not safe outside nowadays. Beware of white vans!" Her mom's aged voice rang out, responding to her.

"Mom! I'm not a kid!" The woman retorted in annoyance as she was about to close the door.

"I know that but, those people will think you as a kid." Her mom replied in a worried tone.

"Mom, you're too much! I'm leaving!"

"Ally—"

Bam!

The woman, Ally didn't hesitate to slammed the door despite, her mom who was about to say something

Whoosh!

The cold wind softly swept her petite body as her chestnut hair fluttered along with the wind. 'It's cold!'

Since, it's still early of January, it's understandable that the temperature in the Philippines was still quite low. However, compared to other countries, it's warmer.

Wearing a simple pink jacket with hood, blue jeans, and pair of black converse, Ally walked outside.

'Now that I'm outside. Where should I go?'

'I don't have any idea…'

Phew~

Ally sighed in frustration as if the universe is weighing on her shoulder. Well, though not entirely mistaken, it's also not precise. Her reason for going outside is to look for a job. Why would she need a job you asked?

Her family is in a big debt right now. It was left by her deceased father who was addicted to gambling and used all their belongings to bet. There's also a time that her father wanted to bet his own wife, her mother for gambling, however before her father could do that, her mother didn't hesitate to divorced her father as they left the house along with her little sister.

And since that day, her mother worked a 2-3 part-time job for them. However, it isn't enough. To pay the monthly rent, the water and electricity bill, tuition fee for their school, it's nowhere enough. And since that day, Ally decided to stop going to school and help her mother.

Although her mother was sad by her decision, she can't stop Ally, since she's also tired. She really needs help. Then, with the help of her, her family managed to lessen the problem. However, when they thought that their life was going to be okay, a piece of bad news came knocking on their door.

Her gambling addict father died in a car accident and he left a huge debt in her mother's name. Upon hearing this news, her mother suddenly fainted before her. That was the day she saw her mother got broken and cried overnight. Even, when her mother and father divorced, she never witnessed her mother cried like a child as if there's no tomorrow.

She couldn't understand the reason, maybe her mother was utterly shocked by the huge debt. However, she felt that there's more with it, which she couldn't know.

Nevertheless, the young Ally that time had a single thought in her mind. And it was to help her mother from her misery.

'I need to find a better job! Not just for me! But for my mother and sister as well!'

Thus, with those thoughts, Ally slowly walked forward without knowing where her feet going to bring her.

Another kid has been reportedly kidnapped in Pasay City!

According to the Police Chief of the Pasay, this act was the work of the Sell Organs Syndicate!

They commonly used a van and kidnapped a kid between the age of 13-16 years old. They will cut off the kid's organ and sell to the rich people who're in need of organs.

Hence, we advise y'all parents that please don't let your children go outside alone.

Upon hearing this news from neighbor's TV, Ally couldn't stop herself to furrow her brows as she remembered her mom's words.

'Aish! As if it's my fault that I look like this!' Ally grumbled in her mind. She didn't know the reason why but, she's shorter compared to her mother. They said that the height could get from parents genes but, why she's only 155 cm? Even her mother is 175 cm. And don't talk about her father, he's from a giant family.

Ally, could be seen sitting on the cold chair of the small park while looking toward the starry night sky, that filled with small blinking stars.

'Who's in the right mind to find a job at this time?' Ally heaved a sighed as she questioned herself. She just realized that she won't be able to find a job at the current time since shops are bound to close by this time. Thus, she decided to stop on the park for a while, like what she always did before she went home.

While looking at the stars, Ally suddenly questioned herself. "What could be the feeling to be a star?"

"Are they happy that they seeing us humans from above? Like how we looked down on the ants?"

"Are they happy to be pretty stars?"

"I want to be a star…" Ally murmured as she lowered her head and she couldn't help but laugh at her questions. "HAHA. What am I talking about?"

"I should better go home now. Or else, mom will be worried about me."

In the middle of the cold and dimly lit street of the Sampaguita Village, Ally could be seen walking silently with both hands on the pocket of her pink bunny jacket. And behind her was a white Hi-ace van, slowly following her.

Remembering the words of her mom and the news on the TV, Ally heightened all her senses as she turned to the right corner, the way to her home.

She already saw this van earlier in the park. At first, she thought she's just paranoid and didn't worry about it. However, it's been 10 minutes since the van started following her. Thus, she began to get anxious.

What if they are really from the syndicate? What's going to happen to her?

She can't bear to die now. Her family needs her!

Then, it didn't take long as the white van followed behind her once again. Cold sweat streamed down from her forehead to her chin. She's sweating despite the cold temperature.

Who could blame her?

Anyone would creep out if some stranger followed behind you.

'What should I do?' Ally questioned herself as she cautiously looked back. Then, as he found that the was still following her, Ally starts to increased her pace. With a big stride, she reached another end of the street with left and right alleyway. Thus, without thinking twice she took the left alleyway.

In common days, she would take the right path with a hope to catch a glimpse of her crush. However, this is not the right time to fangirl over her crush. She needs to escape for now.

And as he entered the alleyway, Ally finally heaved a sighed in relief. Fortunately, the alleyway was narrow as the van couldn't follow behind her.

'Sigh… Are they gone now?' She thought in her mind as she shook her head.

'No matter what. It's better to run now!' Hence, with that thought, she began to run with all her might.

But then, as she reached the end of the alleyway, the white van who was silently following her, blocked her path as the door of the van opened and two people in black clothes and black masks appeared before her. Then, without a word, one of them held her in both arms, while the other one gagged her mouth and nose with a black handkerchief as she felt her consciousness slowly fading.

Bam!!!

Fwoosh!!!

The two people in a black attire tossed Ally inside the van as they closed the door and drove away immediately.

Unbeknownst to them, a man witnessed everything and didn't hesitate to dial the PNP's service number.

"Sob! Sob! Ally please wake up. Don't you dare to leave your mom and sister!"

'Mom?' Hearing her mom's voice. Ally forcefully to open her eyes. At first, her vision was blurry but, it did not take long as her vision become clear once again. "Mom?"

"Ally?!" Her mom exclaimed as she raised her head and asked in worry. "You're awake. How are you? Are you in pain? Tell me."

"D-Don't worry mom. I'm alright." Ally answered as she struggled to sit her body. Upon seeing this, her mom immediately helped her.

"Don't move too much. Are you sure that you're alright?" Her mother asked once again. This time, Ally could see the tears and reddish eyes of her mother.

"Mom… I'm sorry to worry you…" Ally's heart ached seeing this as she immediately apologized. She couldn't bear to look at the poor expression and appearance of her mom.

Her mom's hair was partly gray now because of the stress. Her mom's wrinkles were proof that she's been working hard. She's only 45 years old. However, she looks much older compared to her real age. If her mom didn't experience so much stress, her mom would probably still beautiful. Since, her mom was a campus bell back in her college days.

"Don't worry about it darling. I want you to answer me, are you alright?" Her mom questioned once more, still worried about her.

"Yes, mom. You don't need to worry." Ally responded with a smile, assuring her worried mother.

'Thanks, God!'

"Yea. Thanks to God." Ally followed those words while nodding her head and closed eyes.

But then, her mom's voice rang out beside her ears.

"What did you say?"

Upon hearing the odd question of her mom, Ally uncertain how to answer. "What? I'd just follow what you've said. It's really thanks to God."

"But I did not say that…"

"Huh?!"
