"Siv, Siv." Gary shakes her a bit, holding her above water. "Siv, breathe."
'Gary?'
"Gary." She whispers. Her hands cling to his shoulders as her nails dig in his skin.
"Calm down, I have gotten you." He brushes her wet hair from her face. "Siv, look at me." Siv struggles for a moment before Gary takes her face between his palms. He follows her eyes until she meets his gaze. He is thankful for the light the stars are emitting. "Please, take a deep breath." Siv complies and takes a few deep breaths. Gary moves his hands back to her hips, his legs never stopping to keep them both above water.
"Are you alright?" Siv asks after she calms her breathing. She cups Gary's face.
"I am." He twists his lips but Siv misses it. She throws her arms around his neck.
"I thought you were gone." Hot streams race down Siv's face making Gary feel even worse.
"It was just a stupid, stupid joke."
