Billy noticed that Charlie said "we" when he really meant "I." He hadn't thought about his son at all. But there wasn't anything he could do about it. He stomped back to his room and flopped back on the bed in agitation.
Charlie was unreliable. Jean had left. There wasn't a single person in this world who actually cared about what happened to him.
Although…there was that girl from earlier. The one with the smile that had warmed his very soul. But what were the odds of finding her again? He had never seen her at that park before.
Then again…hundreds of kids went through there every day. There was a good chance he simply didn't notice her.
He made up his mind to spend all day every day at that park until he found her. He wanted to see that heart-stopping smile again and learn her name. Possibly get some more of her fruit snacks too.
