Hazel was out like a light not long after they returned from the shopping district. Apparently all the activity from the day wore her out. Will propped his head up on his arm and gazed at her with his heart in his eyes.
Today had been such a good day if you didn't count the idiot that had dared to hit his treasure in the head with a volleyball. It took all of his willpower not to retaliate because Hazel was watching.
Everything turned out okay though because she had ended up relying on him as a result. She said nobody had cared about her like that since she was eight years old. He had to bite back a sigh. Nobody cared in the same way since then because nobody in this world loved her as much as he did.
He needed to find a way to tell her after this trip. Whatever fallout came afterwards, she deserved to know that he was the one who had been tucked away in her heart for the past sixteen years.
