Hazel had known this would be difficult for Will but hadn't realized how much until the first three months of Henry's life had passed and he was still avoiding the baby as much as possible.
He had gotten into the habit of sleeping during Henry's evening naps and that helped a little. After a few weeks of that he was able to hold the baby when Hazel asked but he never sought him out first.
The disappointment that her husband truly didn't love their child threatened to crush her. She was kept going solely by the fact that Will kept trying.
He did everything she asked without complaint, continued doting on her, and never lost his temper in her presence. His frustration came out in other ways. He bought entire dinnerware sets that he would smash in one of the bathrooms on the other side of the house.
