After their opera house tour they went to a nice restaurant for dinner and Will took Hazel to a seasonal light festival at Jardin des Plantes. The light sculptures were all shaped like animals and parts of their habitats. She had never seen anything like it.
She took as many pictures as she could but with the flash on it probably didn't manage to capture the same effect as how they looked in person. Either way, she wanted to be able to remember this.
By the time they made it back to their hotel room for real, Hazel was happy and exhausted. This had probably been the best birthday of her life so far but Will wasn't done just yet.
He brought out a fraisier cake, which she only knew the name of because she had seen them in a couple of bakeries since coming here, and began lighting birthday candles. Twenty-five of them to be exact.
