Chapter 30 - Appreciate Our Differences

In the elevator, Anthony pushes his key fob against the scanner. The elevator takes us to the seventh floor and opens up directly into his well-decorated, masculine Bohemian loft of a home.

"Oh you throwing people in jail, jail." Jill said admiring his diggs.

Anthony laughed at Jill's brazen comment.

"He's guilty your honor!" Jill exclaimed pointing to an golden crystal lion in the motion of roaring on top of a dark Emerald green granite base.

"Oh you got jokes for real?" Anthony says laughing.

Out in the city of Parkdale prosecutors get a bonus for each conviction made. But it's not open knowledge, just speculation. Definitely not something defense attorneys should be too aware of. Anthony wondered if his pad was too flashy.

Anthony walked over to his kitchen as Jill walked around admiring his open floor plan.

"You want anything to eat?"

"Who's did your interior designer?" Jill asked adoring his curtains

" Me. And I believe I got those from Pier 1."

Jill looked at Anthony impressed. She knew for sure that he did this with other women often. He was just so prepared to make a lady feel comfortable and at home. She felt like an idiot that, the simple idea of that made her jealous. She couldn't even remember the last time she was jealous.

Jill had no idea what's gotten into her tonight. Normally, she was cool with the one night stand or the occasional hookup. With her long work hours, a relationship was just too much to keep up with. On top of that, any extra time she has she dedicates to Julisa her main priority. This is why she's never been one to form deep relations.

Anthony walks up to Jill with a bowl of grapes and water. He has his suit jacket off and shirt unbuttoned. He liked Jill's appreciation for the art he's chosen for his home. He liked it even more that she knew not to touch.

"Thank you." Jill says taking the glass of water and a few grapes. "You give great attention to detail."

"Yeah, I have a passion for art." He says leading her to the stairs towards his bedroom.

Jill spots a tall broad African shield and spear. Next to it was a narrow hall table against the staircase. On it was a picture of Anthony holding the African shield and spear while in some African country.

"Wow." Jill said, taking it all in. "What country was this in?"

"Kenya. You should visit if you ever get a chance. The experience is mind-blowing." Anthony enthused as he reminisced.

"Hmmm..." Jill made her way up the stairs as she said, "Hope you ain't get to the motherland on the brother man's back!"

"Okay Isa, last joke on my career for the night." Anthony said, knowing that if things turned south he wasn't gonna care this time. "Drink." He orders noticing Jill's cup is more than halfway full.

"Alright, yeah that was foul." Jill giggled and drank the rest of her water.

"Besides I know defense attorneys get paid bread!" Anthony snorted, as he leads her to his luxury modern bathroom.

"Not me. Like I said most of my clients are juvenile, a lot of them have parents that are scraping to pay my fees to keep their reckless children out of jail... or a least not in there for long..." Jill signed. " I'm trying to develop a practice that rehabilitates them when they get a second chance. It's a long term goal but, a girl can dream..." Jill walked over to the toilet that was blocked off by a brick wall that hung a lovely abstract painting of a couple making love.

"I love your bathroom!" Jill says to him behind the wall as she pees.

"Thanks. The floor heats up too." Anthony says getting the water ready in his double showerhead seated shower.

Anthony couldn't believe he came at her like some asshole prosecutor earlier. He knew defense attorneys who were on the straight and narrow when it came to clients who needed a break. That's why he wasn't the type to do cases that included theft or small drugs, and prostitution.

"By the way, I love that you serve our community in that way... This is why I became good at my craft to make sure I'm only convicting the big gangsters, the murders and rapists. The little guys are just pawns in their game. A lot of times the little guys are the ones to take the fall... I like that you're there for them." Anthony said in admiration, though he's seen, defense attorneys go bad eventually. Especially when that money is right... Everyone has a price...

"Thank you!" Jill sweetly says reemerging from her potty break naked in Anthony's presence.

Anthony loved the fact that she knew how to get straight to the point.
