Chereads / RWBY(Fanfic): SENA / Chapter 9 - New Promise

Chapter 9 - New Promise

At Uncle Kiyoshi's Cabin. In my bedroom.

Damn! Instant movement is still taxing for my body without cloaking my body with Aura. Now that I think about it, why did I not use my Aura back then except for halting that fatty's Semblance when I snap his neck?

Speaking of weird, Mom and Yang both felt weird this morning. Knowing Mom, she will tell me when she's ready. I guess I'll call Yang for now. I mean, I did promise to be with her when she has a problem.

My scroll rings, the call connects.

"Hi, Sora. Ruby and Neo are asleep already," Yang answered Neo's scroll.

"Ohh... That's a bit early for her. I guess she's tired." I said, surprised that Yang answered.

"..."

"..."

"Uhm... I'll hang up now, just call tomorrow." She hangs up the call before I could reply. I noticed that she's gonna tell me something but hesitated.

"..."

Ring-ring!

"You forgot something?" Yang answered her scroll.

"Yeah... Something," I replied awkwardly.

"You know you're acting weird. You know, Sora, if you have something to say, speak." Yang said

"You're acting weird too, Yang. I have some ideas on why, but I called you because I think you need someone to listen and give you some advice. I don't know if I can do the latter, but I can listen."

"I don't deserve to be Ruby's big sister." Yang's holding her tears.

"..."

I want to retort, but I keep silent.

"Last Thursday, I *Sob* I nearly got us killed *Sob* I almost killed Ruby. If Uncle wasn't there...I, I should just—"

"Yang!" She stops then stared at her scroll, "You're just frustrated. Calm down and release your pent-up stress!" I said randomly.

"No!" She said, frustrated but also weakly.

"Why?" I asked.

"I might wake up others." She said.

"Huh?... I know a trick I'll lead you somewhere, I mean virtually." I open my room's window. I went out as I direct her somewhere.

A few minutes later.

I heard waterfalls over the scroll.

"A waterfall?" Yang asked.

"*Pant* Yeah. *Pant*" I replied.

"Why?" she asked.

"Remember last time at Patch, you lead me somewhere every time you're sad to cheer me up?" Yang nodded. " This time, I'll show you what I learn on how I release my frustration and loneliness. Go wear your earscroll [earphone]."

"Ok."

"One of my training is to do muscle training under a waterfall. One time I tried to meditate instead because I'm so frustrated on that day. I learned that shouting under a waterfall is refreshing. Let's do it together."

She pocketed her scroll, and I think she goes under the waterfall because I could hear the loud splashing of water. I also went under the waterfall on my side I found nearby.

"Haaaaaa! I'm not a good sister! I'm selfish!" Yang yelled. I could barely understand what she says due to the rushing water.

"I'm frustrated for no reason! I made damn choices! I'm ignorant!" I yelled after I hear Yang started yelling.

"I'm so stupid! Why do I act without thinking!" "I'm so stupid! Why do I act without thinking!"

We both yell our frustrations onto the waterfall and let it wash them away. The weight of the water makes our heart remember the people around us that care for us.

"So, you're calmed down now?" I asked.

"Yeah, but if mom sees me soaking wet in my pajamas, she will freak out... Yeah, she will definitely be worried." I might not see Yang because our scroll is still in our pocket, but her tone did calm down.

"No doubt, big sis will... So what happened? Ahh!" I shouldn't ask that.

"Nah, it's ok. I want to talk about it," Yang replied. She took out her scroll from her pocket. "As I told you, last Thursday, dad was called because of Mom request backup for her mission. Mom never asks for backup, so something bad definitely happened. Dad told us to stay at home with uncle Qrow will take care of us. At night uncle Qrow went out. I noticed a clue that might lead me to mom, my other mom. Excited because I have many questions that can finally be answered. I went there with Ruby in a wagon. When I finally got there, I can barely stand, but I don't care. Until I saw them... Those burning red eyes... 2 kids, one is tired, and the other is just an innocent sleeping child. We're just standing there, nothing but prey. Luckily, uncle Qrow showed up. I'm so weak. I want to be strong no matter what it takes. I'll face it head-on to protect my loved ones and find the truth." She said with dedication in her eyes.

"No matter what it takes, huh?" I contemplate.

"Yeah! No matter what! You're with me, right?" She asked.

"Of course, As long as your heart remembers the string that connects our hearts. I will always be by your side. No matter how far we are."

"That's contradicting, you know? So how about you?"

"What about me?" While absentminded, I asked.

"Nothing. Hmph!" Yang looks away.

"You're acting like my sisters, mostly Emerald." I smiled a little.

"No, I'm not." She refuses to look back at me.

"It's about my dad." She looks at me, concerned. "Remember I told you that I think that my dad's still alive?" She nodded. "Well... I think this morning he's dead. I tried to ignore it, but when I also saw mom acted weird this morning. It annoys me none stop. That's why I went with my uncle at Argus."

"..." Yang did not reply.

"Can you pay my dad's visit tomorrow and tell him that I will pay respect to him the moment I got home?" I asked for a favor.

"Of course, we got each other forever, right?" She said.

"Yeah, It's our new promise. Together forever."

"Together forever!" "Together forever!"

A few minutes later.

Yang's at my home, but I'm still running back to my uncle's cabin.

"Did you make me tour around until you found a waterfall so that we could do it together?" She said with a grin on her face.

"I don't know what you mean?" I accidentally tripped.

"Realy?" Yang smugly smiled

"You sounding more like Emerald," I complained.

"I told you I'm not. Goodnight." She hangs up.

Did I piss her off? Huh, What's that? I noticed a huge activity of Grimm in the west. I guess I need to go around.

Whoosh! The wind blows, and the leaves are rustling. Put me out of my thought.

I need to hurry. I'm freezing out here.

Monday Afternoon.

"You achieve what I asked quite early. Now you may choose to proceed on nerve arrangement if you want." uncle Kiyoshi said.

"I still don't have an answer Sensei," I replied.

"It's ok, let's do your physical training for now. I'll give you 2 more weeks to decide. Ok, let's increase your immunity and pain tolerance then. Follow me!" uncle Kiyoshi said sternly, but he's skipping as we go there.

"Ahh... Yes, Sensei!" I said, a bit nervous.

I don't know if I should be happy with my 'great' talent or not. Due to my 'great' talent, the experience was quick as my body learns to adapt and heal quicker. Also, due to this, I progress fast. I was supposed to endure 3 drugs today, now I have to endure 10 drugs instead, and their effects are getting stronger. I hate the part where I got electrocuted. What I hate the most is poison because It's like the combination of all pain internally. Not all of this happened on the same day but throughout the weekend. I really want this week to end. Even though my uncle is with me preparing my food and everything. My tent also has a cooler inside. I still like my first phase of training, than this. Even though this won't end this week and there are still weeks to come. I just want to rest and talk to my friends and family.

A few hours of uncle Kiyoshi humming later.

Uncle peels of the paper he sticks in the tub I'm in. It first filters the poison vapor and turns the poisoned water into Aura, then disperse it into the air before the barrier preventing the poison and effects of the drugs breaks open.

When are you going to teach me that? I asked.

"I won't... Well, it depends on you in the future, but probably I won't." Uncle Kiyoshi answered.

"Why?" I asked as I rest in the next tub with antidote and tonic in it.

Uncle just walks out without answering.

"You better be quick if you want to come. I will hunt the Grimm you said you saw last night." He yelled from the outside.

"What!?" I started meditating and focus on healing. Other than looking at the security camera did I saw someone fought against Grimm. I want to compare them with the monsters in my dreams.

A few munites later, with the tonic and antidote bath. I'm back to a good state but slightly fatigue mentally. Uncle was waiting in his vehicle.

"We're not gonna fly?" I asked.

"No, I need to check some places first. You rest for a bit. It's gonna take a while before the action started." uncle Kiyoshi said.

I agree and rest in the passenger seat, then I woke up in the vehicle alone. I heard a barrage explosion nearby. I hurriedly checked if I have my weapons with me, then go to the source of the noise silently. I already noticed Uncle Kiyoshi and some Grimm with my Vision. I can't tell what is happening because there's a lot of light preventing from decerning happening.

When I went close, I saw Uncle standing at the trench. On his feet lays the disintegrating body of Grimm. All were killed by a throwing knife with paper attached to it. A new horde of Grimm dashing towards him.

A flock of giant birds, a Nevermore Grimm, dives to attack him first. He jumps up to evade while throwing knives at their skull. It did not do much, as they all turned back to attack him again. Suddenly, the throwing knives on their skulls started to flicker, and release an electric current, making the Grimm throw all their feathers at uncle Kiyoshi.

Uncle Kiyoshi strides backward to evade, without looking. The Grimms that are dashing towards him are now where he was standing originally. The throwing knives from the disintegrated Grimm suddenly shine and create a vacuum pulling all grim towards it. It also makes the thrown feathers move at a higher velocity.

While the Grimms are being pulled into a ball. Uncle Kiyoshi walks closer did an Iaijutsu. In an instant, the sword was unsheathed. It's so quick that I never saw him drawing his sword. Then he slowly sheath his sword as the Grimm is consumed by blue fire and slowly disintegrates mid-air.

"How's the show? You nearly missed it!" Uncle shouted as he climbs the trench.

"Why you didn't wake me up?" I complained.

"Your body needs to rest more than to watch me fight," he explained.

"Why didn't you sheath your blade quickly?" I asked again.

"Because I simply don't need to." He said, walking away slowly.

"Show off," I muttered.

...

"Why are we here, again!?" I yelled.

"I only used half of the drugs earlier. Now you have to endure the other half." Uncle replied, then throws me on the tub before filling it with poison again.

Me screaming, hoping that these weekdays will end already. Unaware of what I will learn once I called them.

TO BE CONTINUED.
