Magecraft, also known as magic.
It is a product of neither legend nor fairy tales. It is believed to have originated in the Middle Ages or prior, ( around the time of the Roman Empire) when people underwent evolutionary growth that caused them to develop unusual abilities. They used their knowledge of the Earth and life energy to become the first mages. They were still biologically similar to regular humans, although their physical and mental skills were enhanced. However, regular humans began to call them " Agents of the Devils." There are no reliable records of conflict taking place, but for then on they each lived in silent conflict. The Catholic and Orthodox Church had several times declared war on them, but no measures were taken. Until World War One, when nullification weapons were created. Most of the mage population was forcibly captured and put in internment. However, there were resistance groups during World War 2 who successfully helped them to escape, and started their own movement. Using artificial created mages, the government soon put them down. They went into hiding, forming their own underground networks to ensure each other's survival. An official organization was formed in 1948 A.D. But some stayed in confinement by the United Nations. Their powers and knowledge was used to create more imperfect, artificial mages.
At the end of the century in the year 1997, all of the nations with the exception of a few major ones unified to form a program designed to counter the mage race. Several children from around the globe had their genetic codes changed to be biologically similar to mages. Around the same time, Kingston Lennox formed the Ten Blades syndicate.
There are currently about 30,000 mages in the world. Only about 24,000 of them are protected by the Organization. Annually there is an exam held where the fourteen year old members apply to one of the fourteen schools where they are taught about how to amplify their abilities, and assigned missions before they become High Ranking Members. It has been said that the younger generation is capable of obtaining more powers, and have extremely high magical reserves. Some are capable of stopping nuclear weapons. For that reason, they are prized.
Being accepted into the school of the main headquarters is a great achievement. It is an upper level magic institution, and has the least number of lessons due to the highly advanced intellects of the students. Most of the high ranking members graduate from here, but it is a very rare occasion. This is not an equal opportunity for all who enter the school. They may have luxury, but they are still seen as prizes. Idealistic debates about the disparity that exists between them and their peers are not tolerated, though. Talent and competence. That is mage school. But all of the members have something in common. They all start out at rank X.
Mitsuya, Casanova and Keiko ran from the plane to the inside of the airport, and Julianna was following closely behind. This was the first time that Mitsuya and Keiko had ever gone to Europe, and it was going great so far. Not to mention the Mitsuya can easily get airsick, which Julianna discovered unfortunately on the plane. It turns out that they were late to check in to their hotel, so they had to quickly get their luggage and run out of the airport. The problem was nobody knew how to speak Dutch. On Mitsuya's way to the information desk to call a cab, he had to run as fast as he could. So fast that he got knocked down by this girl who was running in the opposite direction. As he rubbed his head, the girl expressed her sincerest apologies. Mitsuya had to calm her down, which took a while. He learned that her name was Alexis, apparently.
Meanwhile the other three were in the waiting area. Julianna felt like someone was watching her. And she was correct. As she walked, a boy bumped into her.
" Watch where you're going." He said with a frustrated look, and continued walking with his hands in his pocket. Julianna was paying attention to something else entirely.
" What's wrong with you?" Casanova asked.
" His eyes… there was something strange about them."
