"Excuse me!"
Eh? That sounds like Yuni. Soon after I heard her voice, the sliding doors open, revealing the pair of rabbit beastkin sisters standing there. Yuni is the first to speak up during this awkward situation.
"Ah, it's you two again! Mimin and... Mina!"
Wait, are they here to use the bath too? Well that's just great...
"Come here, Luni, we're going over there so that... Luni?"
Before she finished her sentence, Luni came into the bath and settled down beside Mina. Now, Mina is seated between me and Luni, which seems to be making her feel uncomfortable.
"Eh? Um... Luni..."
"Sorry... I hope I'm not intruding."
Ahh! I want to leave already! This isn't worth it! Even though I just came in here with Mina, not long ago, but having those two people around... I'll just wash my hair to distract myself, and hope that they leave soon.
"Haah... Geez..."
Before I noticed, Yuni has already joined us in the bath, sitting beside Luni. She sighed as if saying that it can't be helped.
And... Just like that, the awkward silence continues. Except... Well, this time, it's much more awkward with the four of us. This is a good opportunity, to try to befriend them, but... Ahh! I hate this atmosphere!
*splash*
Ah, the hot water got into my ears... Haah, what was I thinking, dipping my head into the bath like this...
"Um, Mimin?"
"Ah?"
Luni talked... to me. That surprised me, since I wasn't expecting it.
"What's your magic capacity?"
"...Ah?"
"...Was that a strange thing to ask about? I'm sorry if-"
"-No no no, it's fine! It's just... I wasn't expecting you to ask me that..."
The first time Luni has ever talked to me, and she asks about my magic capacity... I don't know how I should feel about this.
"Why do you want to know, anyway?"
"Eh... I'm just curious...?"
And why does that sound like a question!? The way she speaks is so weird! Is anyone in this orphanage capable of talking normally?
"It's been a few days since I last checked, but I think... The exact value is... 21,379?"
It's increased in the last few days, so that value is not accurate. But there's no need to tell them that. Hm? Why is everyone staring at me?
"I see... That explains why you were able to use so much water magic. And your ability to control your magic too... Wait, since you know your magic capacity, that means you do have a magic stone to measure it... Right?"
"Ah... haha..."
... Maybe I shouldn't have answered her question, after all. Magic stones are kinda valuable, so it's definitely weird if I had one on me. At least they don't know that, what I have is a silver magic stone, yet.
"Then, what about you, Luni?"
"...Ah? You mean, my magic capacity? Hm... I'm not sure?"
But... Doesn't Maria has a magic stone? Has she not used it before, to measure her magic capacity?
Thankfully, Yuni joins in the conversation and answers my question for her.
"Both of us have around 6,000 magic capacity! Maria said that we have the highest magic capacity out of everyone in the orphanage!"
Oh! Wow... The average adult human has 5,000 magic capacity, and these two kids have 6,000... Ah, but they are some sort of rabbit beastkin, and rabbit beastkin are somewhat talented when it comes to magic. Maybe it's not that surprising, after all.
... Why does Yuni look so proud of herself, anyway? All she did was tell me their magic capacity...
Eh? Wait a minute, she said... Out of everyone in the orphanage? So, does that include Maria? No, I have a feeling that Maria has more than that. Surely, she meant to say, out of all the kids in the orphanage... Yeah, that seems more likely.
"Oh, I almost forgot... Mimin..."
"Hm? What is it, Luni?"
"I was just wondering if... Well... Do you want to be friends with me?"
"Eh? I mean, of course!"
Weird change in topic, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who had the intention to become friends! Thanks, Luni!
I turn my head to look at Yuni, who looks troubled for some reason.
"Wanna be friends too, Yuni?"
"Ah... Well... I don't mind..."
... What kind of reaction is that? Ah, but her face is turning red now. Is she also shy? At least, it seems like everyone is willing to become friends, so that's a relief!
Haah... Well, that was way easier than I expected. If I knew it was going to be this easy, I would've asked them earlier.
----------
Ah~! That felt great! There's definitely something special about that hot bath, definitely! I don't really understand it, but I feel way less tired after coming out of the bath.
Yuni stands beside me, as we watched Mina and Luni enjoy their glasses of cold milk. To think that, just earlier today, Yuni didn't really like me that much. But now... I'm happy that we're friends.
See, making friends isn't that hard! These people just don't try hard enough...
"Haah..."
"... What? Why are you sighing?"
"Ah, it's nothing, Yuni..."
"Hmph."
It looks like Luni's done with her drink, first.
"Well, we'll be leaving first, then."
"Goodbye, Yuni, Luni. I had fun today!"
Saying that, I waved my hand as they returned to their room, upstairs. If we can continue to spend time together like this, in the future, that'll be great.
"Here you go, Mimin."
"Eh?"
When I turned back, Mina has already refilled her glass with milk.
"Is this... For me?"
"Yes."
"Um, thanks... Oh! It's cold, creamy, and refreshing..."
So this is what milk tastes like... It's so different from the kind I used to drink. Before I noticed, I have already gulped down the entire glass of milk in seconds. Ah, Mina's smiling at me now.
"Why are you...?"
"Ah, no, it's just... Pft!"
"..."
"Here..."
What is she doing, all of a sudden? Using her thumb to gently wipe my lips, and also trying to hold in her laughter... What's so funny?
After washing the glass, she holds my hand, and we walk back to our room. Though, when I ask her about what she's laughing at, she keeps saying that it's nothing funny. I don't believe her, though!
