I had said I would get my shit together. I would rearranged my life. I would pick up the pieces and started over. I needed to move on. I needed to start living. But, I had forgotten to think about the people whom Li Fei had left. I only remembered the pain but never the joy, the laughter, the night out. Those that were shrouded behind the hatred for everyone who had hurt Li Fei and now me.
I didn't bother to check back. I only saw what was upfront. And those enemies were upfront. I neglected everything else then.
"Why'd you leave?" She had asked.
I wondered why. What would Li Fei say? What had been her reason to leave that year? I didn't know even when I was her now. But, I knew I didn't want Charlotte to cry. I loved her smile and the way she jumped around with her rock music.
"Whatever reason I had," I said softly with my lips trembling, "It doesn't change the fact that I left you, does it?"
