The three families headed for lunch to one of the hotels under the Sheng Corp. The Sheng family had a separate mini banquet room available for them all the time. Their family gatherings took place in this hotel.
Today, since it was a big event, the staff was informed to decorate the room with fresh flowers and congratulatory banners. At the entrance of the hotel, the heads of all the departments were present to greet the owners of the hotel, especially the new couple.
After a brief session of introducing Jinjing as young madam Sheng, everyone headed to the private room for lunch. Before the lunch was served, the elders of the family started handing the red packets over to the bride and groom.
The first was Mother Sheng, "Jinjing hun! This is for you. This is the Sheng family heirloom. Liang's grandmother had given it to me when we got married. Now you are responsible for it's safe keeping." Along with a red packet she handed Jinjing a big velvet case carrying the heirloom.
"thank you Ma! I will not disappoint you." Jinjing thanked her mother-in-law with a gentle smile.
Next was Father Sheng, "here is your gift dear Jinjing. God bless the two of you. May you always stay together and love and respect each other." he gave a rectangular envelope to Jinjing. By his expression, Jinjing understood he wanted her to have a look immediately. Going by her feeling, she opened the envelope and retrieved the papers from it.
She was stunned to read the title. It was share transfer document. She instantaneously put the papers back in, without even reading any further.
"Pa! this is too much I cannot accept it. Your blessings are enough for me." she extended the hand holding the envelope towards Father Sheng. Everyone in the room looked puzzled as to what the gift might be, except Mr. Lee, who had gotten the documents prepared and Liang, who was consulted for the percentage of Sheng corp. shares to be given.
Walking up to Jinjing, Father Sheng patted her head and said in a loving tone, "my dear, you are just like Meili to me and this is not your gift but your right. Accept it."
His warm gesture made Jinjing unable to refuse anymore. She thanked her father-in-law and accepted his kindness.
Next on, Mr. and Mrs. Lee gave a thick red packet to their son-in-law. While giving it Mr. Lee said, "well we know you are not in need of anything, and we cannot match up to what our daughter has received so far, but this is our love and blessings for you. We pray that the two of you lead a blissful life together."
Liang who was already standing, walked over to the Lee parents and hugged both of them together and said, "who said I don't need anything more. We are always in need of our elder's blessings and guidance, so keep showering them on us. And on more thing, Jinjing is priceless to me, no material thing can ever match up to her. You have already given me your most precious possession, your daughter, that's the only thing I want."
His words warmed up the hearts of everyone present there. His in-laws felt so welcome and comfortable by what he just said. Whereas, his parents were super proud of their son, so were Meili and Buzz. But the one person who was the proudest and the happiest in the room, was definitely Jinjing.
She internally thanked God over and over for such a loving husband and in laws.
The Feng family gifted them with red packets and Mrs. Feng also presented her with a beautiful diamond necklace. Buzz and Meili were next and their gift made Liang the happiest. They gifted them an all-expense paid luxurious honeymoon trip and the destination, bora bora in French Polynesia, had already gotten Liang's brain in overdrive. All the naughty ideas started plaguing his mind.
Meili nudged at him when she saw he was day dreaming. "here, take it or else Buzz and I will use it." Almost snatching it from his sister's hand Liang took the package with a smug expression. 'as if I cannot afford to take my wife here…. Hmmmm.' But he was truly excited about their honeymoon.
Everyone sat down, thinking the gift giving was over. But they were wrong, the groom was yet to give his bride a gift.
