As planned, Jinjing wound up her work a week in advance. It was Friday and Jinjing's last day at work.
All her subordinates presented her with gifts or flowers. Throughout her tenure, she was liked by everyone. Her character, her behavior, her knowledge and business acumen awed each person working for the Yun conglomerate.
Jinjing sat in her cabin, looking around with melancholic eyes. 'this place is where I became the strong and independent women I am today. My first job, my first workplace.' She left the office with a heavy heart. Only the thought of being with Liang made it bearable.
In the evening, at her apartment, Sam and Luwei helped her pack up and wind up her stuff. Sam requested Jinjing to cook dinner for them. She was a fan of Jinjing's cooking.
"Please Jinnie! I don't know when I will be able to taste your food again." Sam said in a sad tone.
Patting her head with a smile, Jinjing headed to her open kitchen. She could see the couple hug each other from where she was. Luwei was comforting Sam, he said, "don't be upset baby, even I will miss her a lot. if we miss her too much, then we can also shift back to city B."
His statement reminded Jinjing that Luwei worked from city S only for her. An appreciative smile adorned her face. She could keep thanking God for the rest of her life and yet it would not be enough to express, how grateful she was for Luwei and Sam's friendship. She focused on the cooking, while the couple continued snuggling.
Late that night, Jinjing bid goodbye to her friends with a promise that they would also shift to city B soon. She boarded the plane and eagerly waited to reach city S.
In the early hours of the day, Jinjing exited the city B domestic airport. Her bestie, Sheng Meili was waiting for her. Just shy of a month, but it felt as if it had been years when she last met her. She hugged Meili and the two boarded the car.
All the way, the partners in crime, chatted and discussed animatedly and after almost two hours of driving, they reached their destination. Seeing Meili's car enter the driveway, the in house maid rushed to help them with Jinjing's luggage. Dragging the heavy suitcases in, Meili asked, "what have you packed in them…. Stones?" Jinjing shook her head at her friend's sarcasm.
Exhausted from the journey, Jinjing plopped on the couch and let out a loud sigh. "Mei I am starving. I need some heavy breakfast. We have a long day ahead." Her words sounded like a warning to Meili. She let out a tried sigh as well, thinking of the uphill task her friend assigned to her.
"I am already feeling tired thinking of what all we have to get done in such little time." Clutching at her stomach she said, "and my stomach is also hurting with all this secrecy."
Jinjing sat up straight immediately and said glaring at her, "you dare open your mouth…". She did not need to complete her sentences. Meili understood the seriousness of the situation and held the center three fingers of her right hand up, as a sign of her commitment to her friend.
After a hearty breakfast, the duo got off their asses and started tending to the task at hand. They paused for a while only for lunch, and continued thereafter.
At around five in the evening, Jinjing and Meili gave each other a satisfied look. Their hard work was showing in every corner.
Jinjing quickly started pushing Meili towards the exit, "come on go, go fast, you still have to do the last and most important task." She kept pushing her with all her might.
Whereas, Meili kept on resisting, holding on to everything that came her way for support. "when did you become so self-centered? Got me to do so much work, and not even offering me a cup of tea."
Jinjing narrowed her eyes and glared at her for a few seconds. Then losing the frown she said, "Mei, I will treat you to a cup of tea every Saturday for the rest of my life. But now please go. I don't want to get late."
Eventually, giving in, Meili boarded her car and left her friend, to accomplish her final task.
