Since Liang had a major surgery, he could not take a very wet sponge bath. So Jinjing, carefully squeezed the towel dry. She undid the shirt of his hospital gown and meticulously cleaned the area without bandage.
Astonishingly, she did not feel uncomfortable or worked up when she was cleaning him. In fact, it made her feel blessed to be with him in this moment, to be able to take care of him. While wiping him clean, she did not get any weird thoughts in her mind, rather she thought of all the wonderful time they spent together.
"Liang! I feel so blessed to be with you at this moment. But I am greedy and I want more. Wake up baby." She spoke softly to him, while cleaning his hand.
Suddenly she noticed a twitch in the hand she was holding. Acting quickly, she pressed the call bell. While waiting for the nurse, she did his buttons and pulled up the duvet up to his chest.
Soon enough the nurse from before entered the room, "what's the matter Mrs. Sheng?"
Hearing the nurse address her as 'Mrs. Sheng' Jinjing froze for a second, before a blush started creeping up her neck all the way to her face. Suppressing her blush, she informed the nurse about the twitch. The nurse hurriedly called for the doctor.
A few minutes later, the doctor rushed in. Asking Jinjing to step out for a bit, he conducted a series of check on Liang. By then then the entire Sheng family had gathered outside the room.
Restless, they started questioning Jinjing, "what happened Jinjing? why did the doctor rush in?" Father Sheng asked. Not giving her a chance to reply, mother Sheng added "is my son alright?"
Comforting the pale faced Mrs. Sheng, Jinjing crouched down to her level and said, "Mrs. Sheng… he is fine. I noticed a movement in his hand, so I called for the doctor. Let's pray for good news…. Hmmm?"
Mother Sheng nodded with tears filling up her eyes.
Hearing what her friend just said, Meili relaxed a little. Since morning she was trying her best to liven up the gloomy mood of all the family members. She did not want it to all go downhill.
Very soon, the doctor came out from the room with a satisfactory smile on his face. The smile itself was somewhat assuring for the Shengs, but they wanted verbal assurance as well.
Sounding hopeful, the doctor informed "there is a lot of improvement in Mr. Sheng's condition. Looking at his vitals, it should not be long before he gains consciousness. Let's hope for the best."
Almost the entire family thanked the doctor in unison. Patting Buzz's arm, the doctor left.
Meili hugged her father and cried hysterically, all this while she was holding herself up to not add to her parent's stress. But this hopeful piece of news made her lose control of her emotions. Father Sheng affectionately patted her head and caressed her back, holding her warmly in his embrace.
Buzz stood there, looking at his emotional fiancée, with a doting smile on his face. Searching some comfort for herself, Mother Sheng held Jinjing's hand, who had stood up by now and was watching her bestie shed her worries.
Upon being tugged at, Jinjing looked down at Mrs. Sheng, seated in her wheelchair. She once again crouched down and held her hand consoling her silently.
