Going back to work, Luwei kept stealing glances at Jinjing. For all these years, he hid his love for her under the label of friendship, hoping that someday she would look at him romantically. But he had to just be satisfied by being her best friend.
And now, she was assigning him this difficult task of dating someone else. Well he once said he would do anything for her, guess he has to keep his word.
During the countdown to the banquet, Jinjing brought Samantha and Luwei out on multiple occasions with the hidden intention of arranging a date for them. It was an uphill task to begin with, but the kind of best friend she was, she was not going to let Luwei off the hook easily.
Strategically, she would find excuses to leave them alone. Soon Luwei understood the drill and could only go along with her arrangement.
And very soon Jinjing's plans started bearing fruits. Luwei started initiating meetings with Sam. On the other hand, Sam was completely cool with the closeness that Luwei and Jinjing shared. In fact, she treated Jinjing like her sister and Jinjing responded with equal enthusiasm.
A day prior to the banquet, the awesome threesome, went to the mall looking for a dress for Jinjing and a tux for Luwei.
"you girls go look for your stuff and I will head to the men's section." The girls nodded to Luwei's suggestion and simply walked away hand in hand laughing and giggling. Luwei shook his head looking at the grown up ladies acting like little girls.
Sam suggested many gowns to Jinjing, but she was not liking any of them. Scanning through the designs displayed in the exclusive boutique, Jinjing's sight fell on a gorgeous white gown. Bringing it forward, she showed it to Sam "how is this?" she looked at Sam for her opinion.
Regarding it carefully, Sam said "it looks fabulous. Go try it on." Jinjing happily trotted to the fitting room. After a while, she came out to show it to Sam. Simultaneously, Luwei walked over as well, from the opposite direction. Both stood on either side of Sam, asking for her opinion.
Looking at the perfect timing of the besties, Sam could only see herself getting a headache soon.
"ladies first." Jinjing said with full confidence and moved closer to Sam, striking poses to show her dress off.
Sam looked to her right and saw Jinjing flaunt her dress.
It was a fine looking sleeveless gown in white. The top half of the dress, was made of fine soft net. It was transparent up to the chest, revealing just a hint of cleavage. Thereafter, up until the waist, it was covered. The fabric of the skirt was lustrous and flowing.
The dress was styled in a high low hem. In front, the dress ended just above the knees, making her toned long legs look endless. There were several graceful pleats at the waist. As for the back, it went all the way to her ankles.
Turning to her left, she witnessed a strikingly handsome Luwei, dressed in a classic tuxedo with a bow tie, leaning sideways against a mirrored wall. His hands were tucked in his pockets and one of his leg, bent at the knee, was crossed in front of the other leg.
He stood there looking nothing less than an international runway model. With his reflection in the mirror, it was a double treat for the eyes.
Sam turned her head right to left and back a couple of times. She found the friends complimenting each other. One was yin and the other, yang.
