When Jinjing was still present there and was lifelessly looking at Liang, Mama Lee noticed her daughter's pale face. She followed the direction of her sight and saw that she was unblinkingly looking at Liang.
Mama Lee was surprised, but it did not take her long to understand what was amiss. When she saw Jinjing tugging at the chain around her neck, she took a closer look and her assumption turned in to a fact 'her daughter loved young master Sheng'
Mama Lee comfortingly held Jinjing's hand, giving her the much needed strength and support.
With her mother's warmth enveloping her hand, she regained her focus and in one hard tug, broke the chain, which she felt was nothing but a noose around her neck and left it on the table. The chain left a deep mark on her milky swan like neck.
She turned away, blinked her eyes several times stopping the tears from flowing out. Dried her eyes, stoned her heart and left the hall determined to never look back.
Mama Lee messaged papa Lee that they were heading home and that she will explain everything once he returns.
She swiftly accompanied her daughter, not leaving her side even for a second.
At the hotel reception, Mama Lee asked for the hotel drop off service. As they were attending the banquet, it was easily arranged. She looked at Jinjing, her cheerful, happy little girl's eyes were ice cold, devoid of any emotion. She felt for her daughter but was happy that even in such a situation, she could keep calm and not create a fuss.
All along the ride back home, Jinjing did not speak a single word, just kept looking out of the window. As soon as they arrived home, Jinjing, unhurriedly made her way to her room. A concerned mama Lee followed her.
Jinjing was a strong person. She would not make her parents suffer for a man who she loved for a mere few months. She had to be strong and carry on. She could not let one man determine the course of her entire life.
But the weight she currently felt on her heart was too much for her to bear it alone.
Mama Lee stood silently close to Jinjing who was sitting on the edge of her bed and she knew just when her daughter was at her most vulnerable, she quickly hugged her daughter and said "cry it out hun"
The dam full of tears Jinjing was holding back for so long, finally broke and flooded her mother's embrace.
She wailed loudly, hugging her mother tightly.
In between her sobs she said "mom.... I...I... wwilll cry only this once.... and...and nnever again..."
She cried for a long time and did not know when she fell asleep, mama Lee covered her with her blanket and left the room turning the light off and shutting the door behind her.
That night when papa Lee arrived, he informed that Madam Sheng had suffered a heart attack and was in a critical condition in the hospital.
Mama Lee was shocked but still informed her husband of their daughter's plight. Papa Lee was very disturbed on hearing about it.
The next morning
It was Saturday. After a shower, Jinjing made her way down for breakfast and was just her prior self, as if, what transpired last night actually never happened.
She smiled brightly at her confused parents.
