Between the count of two to three, Liang yanked Luwei's hand off Jinjing's shoulder, stepped ahead close to her and smiled, posing for the camera. All at lightning speed.
The photographer looked at the display of the digital camera and scratched his head. In the photo, the prince was looking elsewhere, as good as not there in the picture and the final picture was of the princess with the president of student council. They looked like a perfect couple.
Not giving anyone time to come to terms and rectify what had happened, Liang ushered everyone off stage.
Game plan step 1- Accomplished!
"Game plan step 2: stall the couple dance…yes!" he murmured under his breath.
Pairs started pouring onto the dance floor for the final couples dance. Some were actual couples whereas, some paired up for the dance.
Traditionally, the prince and princess were to lead the dance.
Just then the MC made an announcement. "girls and boys! Let's raise a toast to the prince and princess of this year."
Soon the waiters started moving around the crowd serving drinks.
A special tray was prepared with only two glasses for the couple of the moment.
Liang carefully approached the two with the drinks, carrying a victorious smirk on his lips.
Offering one to Jinjing and then one to Yan Luwei, he picked a glass for himself as well and raised a toast. "to the prince and princess. Cheers!!!"
Everyone: "cheers!!!"
Everyone finished their drink and looked at the couple. Luwei's glass was filled a little more than Jinjing's, who just took a sip saying she can't hold her alcohol. Luwei took some time to finish his and then offered his hand to Jinjing to lead her to the dance floor.
In that moment, Luwei's phone started ringing. Looking at the unknown number, he first disconnected the call but it rang again. Hesitatingly, he answered the phone the second time "hello! Who's this?"
He could hear someone speaking from the other side but it wasn't very clear. For a better reception, he moved further away from the crowd.
Everyone was waiting for him to return and commence the dance so they could dance.
Meanwhile, Liang led Jinjing to the dance floor and pretended to wait for Luwei
Impatiently, all started murmuring amongst themselves. Just then Luwei returned and apologized for holding everyone up.
This time, he bowed down a little like curtsying and extended his hand towards Jinjing "may I have the honor of this dance with you?"
"grrrowwl, grrrroowwl" as if on cue, his stomach started growling.
His eyes widened!
Back straightened!
and hand withdrew!
Just for a second, he looked embarrassingly at Jinjing and then quickly excused himself.
"ahhhh!!! Not again" the crowd complained.
Then like the superhero he is, Liang stepped in to save the day... rather night.
"okay! Let's not keep everyone waiting anymore. The prince can join us later. Without further ado, let's begin the final dance of the evening." The crowd cheered and started moving to the music.
"May I have this dance with the beautiful princess." Liang bowed and extended his hand
"My pleasure" a smiling Jinjing accepted and the couple moved to the center of the dance floor and began dancing.
Their moves were well coordinated, graceful. Their bodies, poised. Their gaze, interlocked. They danced as if no one was present, completely lost in each other. They waltzed all around the hall.
Once away from the eyes of the crowd, Liang pinned Jinjing to a pillar and slowly ravished her lips, enjoying every bit.
Running out of breath, he let go of her lips but lingered close. "I am addicted, my love"
