Chapter 2 - Training

The Castle's eastern courtyard

2 years has passed since then.

During these 2 years, he met his cousin Anya Wys. Anya is the daughter of Anny Wys, his mother's younger sister. Anya's father is the commander of the first division wyvern corps.

Anya would often tag along with her mother whenever she visits her sister, the queen.

Whenever she's in the castle, she goes and finds Atlas in the library and drag him out to play, much to Atlas' annoyance.

Surprisingly though, he didn't dislike it. Even if he is mature for his age, he is still a child. Though he is still frustrated every time Anya interrupts him.

And just like that, his 2 years were filled with enjoyment and unsurprisingly, annoyance.

Today, Atlas is standing at the eastern courtyard since he will start his swordsmanship training.

While atlas was preparing himself for the training, the door opened and a middle-aged man came in. The man has a well built and sturdy body. He has brown hair, black eyes, and a scar on his left eye. He has a height of 178 cm, and with a height height of only 148 cm, Atlas only reaches hi waist.

While Atlas was observing the man, the middle-aged man was also observing him. The middle-aged man's name is Veros. Veros is the legion commander of the 1st legion.

After observing Atlas for a while, he walked towards the left side of the courtyard where the sword rack is located.

Veros pick up a short wooden sword and threw at Atlas. Atlas caught the wooden sword and looks at Veros.

"Come Atlas, let me see what you can do." Said Veros.

Hearing Veros' words, Atlas readied himself.

"Hah!" He held the sword with two hands as he leaped straight at Veros. As Atlas neared Veros, he swung the sword downwards with all his strength. Just as the sword neared Veros' chest, Veros blocked Atlas' sword with his short sword.

Veros was observing Atlas as he leaped towards him. The moment he blocked Atlas' sword, he was impressed. Atlas has the strength typical of an 8 year old that has trained for a year, although from what he knows, Atlas has never trained before.

Atlas kept attacking, but every attack was blocked effortlessly by Veros. Atlas tried attacking the Veros' knees, legs, he even circled around Veros and tried attacking his back.

As time went on, Atlas became increasingly exhausted. He made one last effort and slashed to the right aiming at Veros' right knee. And like the previous exchange, Veros blocked Atlas' attack.

After Atlas' last attack, he ran out of energy and fell backwards.

"Have you ever trained young prince?" Asked Veros as he sat down beside Atlas.

"ha, no" answered Atlas as he panted still lying on the ground.

"That was some strength coming from someone who hasn't trained before." Laughed Veros with a small smile at the corner of his mouth.

"hehe, I still can't hit you." Atlas laughed at himself for his performance.

The reason for Atlas' strength was probably because of Anya. Every time Anya interrupts him to play, she would ask him to piggyback her.

"Hahaha, don't discredit yourself young prince." Veros laughed seeing Atlas' expression. "I am the strongest in the kingdom. I've also been a general for 20 years, of course you can't hit me hahaha" Veros said as he took out his status card.

Name: Veros

Lvl: 91

Race: Human

Occupation: General

Title: First Legion Commander, Dragon Slayer, Goblin Slayer, Tyrant

Mana: 6450

Str: 2350

Int: 2100

Agi: 1975

Vit: 2400

"Wow! What kind of stats are these!?" Atlas gasped in astonish at the unbelievable status of Veros.

"HAHAHA Awesome right!?" Veros grinned at Atlas' astonishment. "These stats are almost at the peak of what people can attain. 2500 is the limit one can attain. Though there are some who surpassed those limits through sheer determination. Though there are some exceptions like the different races or different occupations. Of course age is also a factor." Veros explained.

"For humans, the highest stats one can attain is 2500, but different occupations have different limits. Take my occupation for example, the [General] occupation has high physical strength and vitality which to a general's physical defence, but due to these a general has lower limits in both magic ability and speed."

"Races also play a key factor. Elves have higher magic ability and speed, with talent and hard work, they can surpass what is humanly possible and reach up to 2700 stats. Unfortunately they have lower physical strength and vitality."

"The demon race has a higher physical strength and speed, but have a moderate magic ability and vitality. These attributes depended on what type of demons they are."

"There are many different other races with different specialties like dwarves, gnomes, even monster such as goblins which you will learn in the future."

"The age of a person also contributes to the person's limits, for a child under the age of ten such as yourself, you can't surpass 50 in any attributes. The limits raises as the age raises. Also as the person grows older, the upper limits also lowers, though there are exceptions such as elves who live a long life."

"Got any of that young prince?" asked Veros

Once Veros started his explaination, Atlas who was lying down sat up to listen to Veros. As he listened, he was astonished at the sheer amount of information of the differences between races, occupations, even a person's age.

"When can I get my own status card?" Asked Atlas with sparkle in his eyes.

"You will get yours at your come of age ceremony." Replied Veros.

Atlas looked down at Veros' status card again noticed something. "Why do you have the titles [Goblin Slayer] and [Tyrant]?" Atlas asked Veros.

Veros scratched the back of his head in embarrassment as he replied "Back --"

Just as Veros tried to reply, the door and a middle-aged man entered. When Atlas looked at who entered a person with black hair, brown eyes, and a handsome. This person is the father of Atlas and the king of Brahm, King Gregory Brahm.

"HAHAHAHA Back when I was doing our family tradition, I met Veros who was an adventurer nicknamed [The Tyrant]!" King Gregory laughed heartily at Veros' embarrassment. "HAHAHA I thought that he was a merciless person due to the title and his face, but when I found out the reason I almost died laughing!! HAHAHA" the king continued.

Atlas was even more curious with Veros' past since he hasn't seen his father like this before.

"Father, what's the reason?" Atlas asked his father.

"Back then he mostly hunted goblins and mercilessly killing them scaring the rookies and children earning him the title [Goblin Slayer] and [Tyrant] by the rookie adventurers and children which later on acknowledged by the guild!" King Gregory laughed out at Veros' misfortune.

"That's all in the past now." Veros scratched his face in embarrassment.

"Alright let's get to training!" Veros shouted at Atlas.

Afterwards Atlas went back to training, which he found much harder than before, much to the king's amusement.
